lets hope so. his lack of speed is my big concern. i rated him very high back in his Milan/Genoa/Bremen days but he seems to have gone a bit backward lately. hope he can turn it around

I'm not Sokratis biggest fan but I think he's gonna be fine. He's definitely not worse than most defenders in this league.

Sven had to bring in someone experienced to replace Koscielny and he went for a player he knew extremely well from his Dortmund days. Nothing about this signing was rushed or overlooked or miscalculated. They knew exactly what he can and can't do.

We should let him go the moment we find someone that's willing to pay us anything for him.

Also he's going to have a new goalkeeper and midfield around him. While I think our defense is still behind our rivals, I still expect some improvement from last season

Welbeck's trajectory only pointed upwards last season while he got over the injury. He'll prove useful on the wing.

No one is going to spend any money on him in Jan with just a few months left on his deal.

I like Welbeck and he can be of some use if we keep him but he's not good enough to throw away decent money.

Same. I don't really understand what we would stand to lose by swapping out Elneny, Welbeck and Perez for Guendouzi, Nelson and Nketiah.

Hopefully the likes of Nelson and Nketiah get mins ahead of him when it’s appropriate.

The difference between Welbeck and Nelson is that I want to give Nelson minutes because he needs it, while I want to keep Welbeck because our season needs it. For all criticism of Welbeck, much of it deserved, Nelson hasn't shown so far that he is of the same level.

Agree to disagree about Nelson. I think from what he's shown that we could be reasonably confident that he would be at least decent in the first team.
