I like Welbeck, I genuinely think he brings something to the table. But if you want to play quick, technical football he’s a hidersnce. You could argue he’d be useful off the bench as ‘something different’ but just like Giroud, that’s not a reason to keep someone.

I like Danny as a geezer, and he's a tremendous athlete... but he adds very little of use to us now. Should be sold.

Welbeck still hasn't signed a new deal, as 3rd choice striker we don't need him much so we probably aren't going to push the boat out. He's also got a decent bit of sale value. Makes sense to sell him this summer. Given how tight our budget seems to be it'd be very annoying if we kept him for another year and then let him go for nothing. I'd also rather see 3rd choice striker minutes go to Nketiah and any wing minutes he might get go to Nelson.

I agree, it's not the end of the world if we keep him but the opportunity cost would be high.

Assume we wouldn't get much anyway for a 3rd choice striker with 1 yr on his contract. Might as well keep him if we don't get at least 10M. He can do a job at LW in big games and will give us another window to get an alternate WF. Nelson doesn't seem remotely ready yet.

He’s a good pro- always well regarded by his coaches, and seems a genuinely nice person with a bit of personality. Can’t ever have too many of those on board.

If we are not giving his minutes to some young wunderkid, I’d keep.

a little bit surprising to be fair.. I thought he was touted to be a surefire player when we brought him in.. assumed this was just going to be a straight loan.. guess not

Reportedly we were reluctant to include an option to buy but Porto were prepared to walk away over it. Regardless, we included the clause and have lost control of what he does at the end of next season so it figures we can't rate him that highly.

That's pretty hard to believe. Emery above all else rates ability on the ball, and Monreal is probably still top 3 in the squad in terms of first touch or consistent passing. Shame if we lose him

Agreed.. defensively more solid than Kolasinac, and while he isnt necessarily as good going forward (though, thats debatable), he's not a real slouch. Unless we are going to sign a ready-made LB that can slide right into the starting XI (and quickly), im inclined not to believe this.

and shouldn't it be the other way around? They will offload Nacho if they manage to sign a LB? (not they will sign a LB if they manage to offload Nacho).. and who the hell is chris wheatley? unless its coming from ornstein, its fluff.. heh

Monreal is 32, Mertesacker slow, and injury prone. Love the bloke but he was already falling apart last season. I don't think he can stay if we're gonna keep Kolasinac. We need a more reliable option.

Yeah he's not the first to anything but he is pretty reliable in many areas of arsenal, not necessarily only transfer.
Charles Watts is the other new guy that is pretty decent too.
