Jack has been getting consistent minutes without improving as much as I'd hoped. that loss of explosion in his first few yards kills his game. He still plays like he can burst past people, but he ends up getting bullied onto his arse looking for a free kick

Rumors floating around that we'll listen to offers for bellerin. Tbh he's our most valuable asset that isn't absolutely pivotal to the team. He's not exactly a fan favorite threse days either. If we don't win the EL and get into the CL i think we'll sell him for the right price. Harsh reality is that we're back to the good old days of having to sell before buying, and in a WC year as well. Painful stuff

I'd probably release jack and sell bellers, and recruit a powerhouse midfielder, GK, and CB in that order

Selling Bellerin is a bad, bad idea.
A good way to gauge whether it's a bad idea is to assess the profile of interested parties. The rumours have suggested Manchester City and Barcelona. Suggests that good teams believe that here is a player we are under-exploiting.

We're not under-exploiting him. He's just been playing injured for most of the last 1 and a half to 2 seasons.

Ofcourse I'd rather keep bellers. but in the context of selling to buy, and considering the makeover the rest of the team needs, bellers is on the auction block. Particularly if he is still wantaway

On the upside we made some decent cash in the January window while slashing the wage bill, and we should be able to get something for wantaway/unwanted players this summer. It should leave us with enough to get a midfielder, a centreback and a winger. All other signings are luxuries right now.

I don't think our wage bill has much wiggle room, even with the january sales. Mkhi, auba, and ozil are on megabucks, and we need to leave something aside for rambo too

I think the fact that Debuchy is doing reasonably well in France just makes his time with us look even worse. What an absolute wage leech. He wasn't much of a footballer to begin with, but he blatantly stopped trying the second he lost his spot to Bellerin, and all he ever did beyond that point was bleeding the club.

I think that's harsh to be honest. Guy was injured for about a year and suffered multiple further injuries after that, with the odd cup game here and there. Folks just assumed he wasn't trying rather than the more obvious explanation in my opinion.

I also think he's done a good job whenever called upon this season.

When he got games in the cups after his injury his performances were definitely not just a lack of fitness. He was extremely disrespectful and TBH he only looked like he started trying again once it was clear he would be leaving the club.

I'm not convinced that's true, you could easily accuse Mert of not trying in certain games this season, however we know better. He's just old and out of match practice and perhaps not very good.

Also, while I don't necessarily excuse the attitude, he'd be far from being the first player to struggle for motivation playing with a bunch of kids getting steamrolled by Shefield Wednesday in the League Cup.

Yep, pretty much. I have some sympathy for the injuries, but he was injury free for a long time and didn't lift a finger. He'd criticize Wenger publicly for a lack of playing time and then he'd show up looking like a non-league footballer when he got the chance.
