How so?

We still would've to score 3 goals. Even if they score 2 it's not over because the aim is still to score many goals, 3 or 4, it doesn't matter.

We have to attack them from the start, like Milan few years ago. Press them high, and not worry much about defence. Start with Gabriel.

We need to score 3 whether they score one or not, so that the tie is over if they score first is obviously wrong. It's also obviously wrong that it doesn't matter whether we will have to score 3 or 4, though. I feel pretty certain that the more goals we'll have to score, the harder it will be.

If we can score 3, why not 4? They will be shitting themselves, and our players will feel confident that they can score more if they hit 3 already.

I'm pretty confident myself, I think we'll beat them by at least two goals, and go through.

Problem with them scoring first is our cushion will vanish and we end up having to be a lot more conservative. If we go 1 up on the other hand we can afford to really have a go as the game goes on.

I shudder inwardly when thinking about that last minute goal we gifted them at home. What a complete set of wankers we looked. Hope they're forced to watch that shit on repeat before kick-off tomorrow.

Getting through this thing is going to require at least 2 out of these 3:

Arsenal firing on all cylinders with great attacking and equally great defending
Monaco choking completely on the occation
An American diner sized portion of luck

Of course I really hope we do them and go through, but I'm hardly going to be bothered if we don't. We basically knocked ourselves out already and I'm done feeling depressed over it now.

Joking aside, I obviously agree, it will be tough, but the aim is to score many goals, so for me it matters little if it's 3 or 4.

No one thought that Monaco would score 3 goals at the Emirates either. It's football, bigger miracles have happened.

Only time I can think of us going away, needing a big win, and actually getting it was against Inter a decade ago. Even then, it wasn't in the knockout stage, so was a massively different situation.

Can't see us doing it, but obviously would love us to.

We needed a win against Milan and 2-0 was pretty 'big' given the fact that English teams had never won against them at San Siro.

ramsey's shooting has to come off somehow. I suspect he's gonna be taking a lot of shots, hopefully realistic. And chamberlain has ridiculous ability, we've seen in in his dribbling against man u and the goal against monaco. Hope he steps up a gear in his career here.

It's highly unlikely we are going to get the required result tomorrow, that 3rd goal was a real sucker punch. Mentally we should adopt a attitude of already being out as that would ease pressure and usually see's us put better performances in. Although we don't look in top free flowing attacking football and it is a big ask for us not to concede another. Hope for a good result but don't expect us to get it.

I think we should start Gabriel if he's just 60% fit. We need to push them back for the whole game, and can't be caught on the counter. Per's going to be such a liability.

@ Halfvolley, no point of being angry at the players- They would have been following Wengers tactical instructions and charge forward like the light brigade.
And Wengers tactical instructions were shit as we know.
