I'm surprised he's heading off to Turkey though - I definitely thought he'd be able to prolong his career but in hindsight I'm relieved he wasn't given a new contract.

We should have made him play out that final year of his contract though. I was in favour of selling him at the time since he woldn't extend, but it was the wrong decision in hindsight. Odds are we could have won something that season if we'd had a real striker instead of Giroud.

I was looking through Arse.com's top 10 players in terms of goals, assists and other stuff, and he was top 10 in the most important ones. Had he stayed, he could've broken Henry's goalscoring record and reached immortality.

I think we would've won the league as well that season if the clown didn't leave us.

I don't think he would ever have broken Henry's goalscoring record, but it was definitely a mistake to leave. No one cares about him now.

Lol, thought he was on 170 for us for some reason. He's almost 100 goals off, so you're right, he probably wouldn't have done it', especially when he's so injury prone.

Objectively though even with the same record at United plus the goals he scored for us he'd be at 190 now and this is when he was dropped by Moyes and Van Gaal. He could get the record and he'd certainly be second on the list. He's going to go down as a stain in our past and a footnote at United. He isn't the main problem at United for the last 2-3 years though. Rooney's been an irrelevance for them since 2012. He's not prolific enough anymore at all, on the decline and fitted into the squad sometimes in midfield too. Should have gotten rid to Chelsea when they had the chance. Can't believe they bent over and offered him 300k and it still has 4 years to run.

They'll be freeing up a lot of wages by getting rid of van Persie, I reckon they're setting the ground for a few big transfers - which is worrying.

I reckon we would have won it at least once, if not twice. I said it at that time it was a pathetic move by us and it still is. That 24m is nothing to us.

I bet he is regretting it actually. United fans don't take to him and he is hated by Arsenal fans. He has had a nothing career.

Expect to see some serious money & action in the market with both PSG & Citeh cleared re further FFP sanctions.
I suspect this is what AW & Co are waiting for to initiate the transfer merry-go-round, but I also hope that we are not going to wait until the last minute to look to secure any players.

RvP doesn't give a fuck - he won the title, and was pretty much the main man in winning it. We can keep talking about ifs and buts, but the fact is that we haven't won the PL in a decade.

Oh and he definitely won't be a footnote in history, he'll be the guy that won Ferguson his last title.

Doesn't mean that much when you're playing for a club that, statistically, have won the league almost every other year since the invention of Premier League. He's a Tevez type of player to them: someone who came in and did a job and then turned shitty quickly.
