When Mourinho was going through the loss of his father during last season, I formed a theory that he's a typical Oedipal high achiever—eldest son, lots of performance anxiety, anal retentive and detail-oriented, a mixture of arrogance and self-loathing, a constant sense of inadequacy. His father was a better footballer than he could ever be.
I think that's some of what's going on with him. So given what he will have been through, I suspect Savz is probably right about him experiencing a rare moment of genuine personal growth over the past year. I just happen to think it's not enough to allow Mourinho to survive the United environment, which remains one of the most toxic in the world, with equanimity.
I reckon Mourinho will crash out again, but I'd say there's probably success somewhere in his future at a less insane club.
As for Ali, I genuinely don't know much about him. I've never watched any of his fights and only know him through photos and sound bites. Boxing's not my thing.
