That is what did me, I don't begrudge him leaving. Lets be honest here the club was a joke and had no ambition or desire to push themselves, we were content with Top 4 and prepared to do the bare minimum for that. Why would any top player want to spend their best years with us?

The way he left and the disrespect that he and the Barca players and board showed really got under my skin. Barca strongly encourage players to pull this shit to force a move at a lower price and he went along with it. Even though he was a Barca boy this club took a chance on him and Wenger showed faith where very few would for someone that young.

Fabregas was having to pretty much single-handedly win us matches back then, can't say I've got it in me to question his preparation or his contribution to our football. That was on Wenger and the owners for mine.

Sicario2 the two girls from Bradford I once had relationships with (relax... Not at the same time!) probably saw that result and had a little giggle about it. I think this was one of the most humiliating results in our history, certainly in my lifetime. Even without the personal aspect.

Bradford, Birmingham, Wrexham. All horrible. I’m old enough to have seen us lose Cup Finals against Ipswich and West Ham too. And bloody Luton, although that was the Milk Cup or Coca Cola Cup or whatever it was back then. At least a couple of those were followed by beating Liverpool or Man Utd in a final the next season.

All for the sake of 5000? Risking prison for just 5 thousand Great British Pounds? Not millions, not even hundreds of thousands, but just 5k? How can your spending habits get so bad that as a professional footballer to put you in that position for 5k? Even if we say he was making a modest 3-5k (modest haha) per week for years at Arsenal and subsequently at other clubs thay is still more than the vast majority of people in the UK.

600 a week? Uber drivers make more than that a week. If he spent all his money then that kind of explains why 5k is so much for him.

Still, the guy played for our youth and reserve teams for years and we must have been giving those reserve youth players around 5k a week. Then spent a number of years in the championship with Ipswich and QPR. That's at least a couple million down the drain, probably closer to 3-4m if he made 10-15k in the Championship.
