I'd say Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin is an improvement on what they had in midfield last season.
Irritated, as opposed to worried, that they got both as there's an avalanche of smug about to be unleashed.

Their midfield is going to be as cumbersome as it gets. United don't have any creativity in the side at all really, unless they can figure something out with Di Maria. Not great in possession either. They'll struggle to break down Premier League teams.

Not really. He has good end product but he doesn't receive the ball in tight areas between the lines or create space against packed defenses. Weak, slow, static, average under pressure. He doesn't manipulate defenses the way Özil or Wilshere do for example. Di Maria has the ability to break defensive lines down with his dribbling but he's very erratic - it will be up to Van Gaal to fit him into the XI better next season.

We'll see what they do the rest of the window, but right now it appears that parking the bus against United will be a recipe for success next season.

Bastian, Schneiderlin, and Herrera. I hope this time next year we are not crying out again for a defensive midfielder, and saying we need to find our Schneiderlin.

Can't really down play this, it is great for United, with the likes of Blind and Carrick in reserve, they have completely revamped their midfield.

I just want to see what we have in store, for me he would have been the perfect signing, and could have played with Ramsey, Coquelin etc. I can't see who is now out there that is quality and realistic.

No panic, we can certainly upgrade our attack, but I would have loved to balance out the squad properly. Roll on the rest of the window, we all can't wait to see what is in store.

that's annoyingly good business for united, in an area of the pitch that has been neglected for years. then again we all knew they'd be one of the most active in the market this season. they can't afford to have a 3rd mediocre season.

Exactly.

They both will run all day, tackle, pass and put their body on the line, plus they are good technically, and very smart tactically.

You can't have a team full of playmakers, or wanting everyone to dictate the tempo. You also need to win back the ball before you can do anything with it. Coquelin alone has shown that quality in midfield, no else in the squad fits the bill.

Agreed he's very much a final 3rd type player - thought his stats at CFC were as good as anyone's?

He has good end product if he gets space in the final third, but otherwise he's average. Think his brace against Liverpool - left wide open and converted with aplomb. But there are many games where he makes little impact when things get tough.
