I swear in Ferguson's final few years they hardly spent anything. (RVP being the exception rather than the rule).

He definitely gave the impression last night that it was between us and United. He said United need to replace Felliani, we need to replace Arteta and Schneidelin has to pick between two clubs - as if to say; take from that what you want.

Seperate training kit deal.

They are far ahead of us commercially.

You won't believe the sheer amount of people that go and visit the stadium and buy merchandise and stuff.

Not really. The only time they spent less was the 2010/11 season.

Even in 2011/12 they paid 18-20m for Dea Gea which would probably be a transfer record for 16-17/20 premier league clubs at the time. Similar fee for Young too.

Next season 20m for Kagawa and a further 24m for Van Persie.

2013/14 saw the arrival of Fellaini and Mata for 70m plus

2014/15 saw more than 100m spent on Di Maria, Falcao, Rojo, Shaw, Herrera etc.

Because they are minted, even without CL football they turn over more money than us. The Glazers have sorted their expensive loans out now as well so their repayments are manageable and they have sponsorship deals coming out of their arse. Their Adidas kit deal is worth twice as much as our, their Chevrolet shirt deal is worth twice as much as ours. Last I checked they turn over more than £125m than us a year, that is similar to gap between us and Spurs. End of the day they've had unprecedented success in this league so they will command the most lucrative sponsorship deals. Don't forget their stadium as well, probably turn over more than us from there. Even though their prices are cheaper they get _15k more people in.

Ferguson was a master at getting the best out of what he had. He had players like Cleverley and Welbeck playing out of their skin against R.Madrid! Towards the end I don't think Fergie was that bothered about long term, he wanted players who could come in and perform in the short term.

I'm not sure our manager feels the same tbh. There is something about him which is stopping us going all out to sign him. Either the possibility that a better player may become available or Wenger doesn't rate him enough to spend £25m on him.

i'm not saying thank fuck until i see what wenger has in store. because he's let me down enough times to know that just because we don't sign the lesser player (who would still do a good job for us) that he's actually going to buy a better player.
