I don't really buy that United aren't a big draw for players. Their name still carries a lot of weight and they are paying top, top wages.
I don't either - if anything they've bought more big names in the past 4-5 years than they have done under Ferguson.
Mata, van Persie (fair enough, that was before Fergie retired), Di Maria, Falcao, Schweinsteiger and Valdes are all players who all have a lot of suitors but were attracted by the draw of the club more than anything else.
On top of that, they seem to be able to play City level wage but the people in charge of the club seem brighter than the lot down at City.
I agree with those who say United aren't ready for a title challenge yet but they seem quite capable of spending money and bringing in the players they need until they do get it right. And most players seem willing to join them - sure they probably won't get Vidal or Pogba, but so what? They're getting a good enough calibre of player anyway.
Now that they're back in the Champions League, I'd say only Chelsea are a bigger draw than United.
