He's a decent passer - can't say I've noticed him being exceptionally good or bad at it, but he's certainly no where near Cazorla.

Let's see how many DM's have the capability to pass around like Cazorla. Maybe Busquets that's it. It's most certainly not a pre-requisite. Cazorla is the one who's being fitted into that role.

As a DM Schneiderlin's certainly is good and probably at par with Arteta's.

i really don't think we're going to sign this guy, or any centre mids. ramsey, cazorla, coquelin, arteta will be our options there, with jack playing as a central/wide utility man.

Hope so really. Schweiny is obviously a better player, but there are doubts over his injuries.

At this point in time I'd rather sign Schneiderlin than the German. If there is no interest from Man U, then perhaps Southampton will lower their asking price. A player who doesn't want to be at the club is far from ideal.

If the attacking madness is a CF (Cavani or Benz), i would happily take a cut price Schneiderlin despite being very toxic about him in the past. We'd have a first true chance for the title in 10 years. :opti: 😃 :drool:

Manchester United may be on the verge of adding to their midfield ranks with a deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger but according to Sky sources, the club are still interested in bringing Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin to Old Trafford.

Schneiderlin supposedly would rather come here. Add in Schweini for competition at United too and he he might feel even less inclined to go there.

Sadly I don't think we are really in for him anyway. Unless we're playing a bit of a waiting game and hopin to be opportunistic.

Schneiderlin is better that, carrick, blind, and possibly Bastian. Apart from Coquelin we have no one we is responsible defensively and of the required level. No matter what some say on here, arteta at this point can't lace Morgan boots. If United add him to their midfield, they will be a threat.

I truly hope Wenger gets him, because if not, we will be looking back at this one.

Can't see United going for Scheiderlin - why would they? They have just signed the German and are probably paying him £200,000 or more a week, and they also spent big money on Herrera last summer, as well as having Carrick, Blind and Fellaini.

I hope you are right. The numbers seem okay, but according reports, it seems they are still in for him. Bastian has the experience and probably the right profile for United, but apparently they still want Morgan.

I would love you to be right, because if they got him, they center of their midfield is sorted for all comps.

I don't agree it's sorted, they'd have numbers, but there's no world class quality there. And no superstar attacking lineup to make up for that. It's all just a mishmash of average and over-the-hill players - everywhere, front to back.

If they sign Schneiderlin they might play Blind as a leftback.

United's midfield gets too much criticism in my opinion when you look at the rest of their team. Herrera comes across as an Aaron Ramsey without any outstanding qualities, but he improved a lot during the second half last season. Looked like their best midfielder to me, and he's certainly someone I'd rather have than guys like Jordan Henderson who seem to be getting a lot more praise. And I like Blind too. Schweinsteiger will complete the trio, and then you have Carrick in the fringes for support and experience. I think they've got a good mix of players there if they want to play a 4-3-3. Their problem is that both their defence and attack are horrible.

Plus they actually have an european competition next year. Be sure LVG will manage to bottle some of the follow up games in PL.

They can't play 4-3-3 as things stand because they only have Rooney that can play up front. He's too long in the tooth to play that role now and top class lone strikers aren't there to be had for any of the top clubs, let alone United.
