A midfield trio of Ramsey Wilshere and schneiderlin would be mustard
Morgan Schneiderlin (seems he's signed for United....)
Schneiderlin is perfect - very good player with room to improve, would be available for a reasonable fee and on reasonable wages, and can play both deep midfield positions. Arteta/Schneiderlin/Ramsey is a top set of central midfielders.
Is there any evidence that we bid for him in January and were rejected?
Not sure about January, but according to Murray Groves we did bid in September.

I understand Arsenal may be submitting a late ยฃ12m bid for a Southampton player. I'm assuming either Shaw or Schneiderlin #SaintsFC #AFC
Or whenever it was. I at some point read that we previously bid for him, if that's the case then at least Wenger likes the player.

Try telling that to Illaramendi or Marquinhos. The market has changed, Pogba is never going to go for peanuts
I hold out hope that our scouting network is able to find a hidden talent that goes about the business of defending properly in midfield and distributing the ball well.
Scheniderlin fits the bill.
Fuck me, that's an awkward graph.
It's a statsbomb capi
Someone's done a lot of non value added analysis and they can't get back the time they wasted compiling it
They could have had a wank or two!
Those randomly calibrated radial axes are fully numerological.

I think the axes represent percentiles. With that being said, it's still a pretty pointless way of displaying data.
Those axes are linear mate - just stupidly bounded, scaled, and rounded.
I reckon those statsbomb images only work if you look at a few together.
Always handy to have Joe Average's to hand :egg:
Schneiderlin looks more Joe Average than he does Pirlo
These graphs are really only useful when you use overlays. Pirlo and Schneiderlin should be shown on one graph. Consistent axes (percentiles?) would be nice as well
You don't need an overlay to compare them, I actually think the difference is more clear when you see them side by side
So he looks a little average technically compared to Andrea Pirlo...not sure this is something that needs analysing tbh.
Statistically Schneiderlin is one of the best midfielders in the league, he's high on all the lists that matter - tackles, interceptions, passing accuracy, distance run etc. Was naively hoping we might get this done early but i guess the world cup call up means theres no chance of that happening.
As good as he is, Pirlo plays in a dead league.
Oh by the way that graph suggests he hasn't played a throughball all season. This video says otherwise so its accuracy isn't flawless
Think you may have misinterpreted the graph ?
Anyway I don't think anyone's suggesting that we use the graph to seriously assess him.
At a quick glance those graphs show that Ramsey's closer to Pirlo and streets ahead of Joe Average
Ah i see the figures now, thought it was 0.0.
Schneiderlin yay, silly graphs nay.
Poor fucker. He's already seen 3 of his star players go. Can you blame him...
Wenger smiled for more than 0.7 sec and took the bottle with his right hand, means it's definitely happening

been watch a few videos on him lately, think he is exactly what we need. Has a good balance of defensive awareness & technical ability. Get him in.
The article ranks high on the bullshit-o-meter though with the claim that Wenger has ordered scouts to keep tabs on him during the WC. Like he is an unknown quantity and not young, French, and playing in the PL.
Linked with a move to Napoli.
Best DM last season. Tet's aging. We need him.
my realistic wishlist for CM would be schneiderlin or william carvalho. we need to get back to technique+pace+power.
we ain't gonna get javi martinez or arturo vidal, though they would be perfect.
Goal.com understands Arsenal open talks over Schneiderlin move. It might be bullshit, but it's the next logical step if a move for Khedira has fallen through.
Why is it the next logical step?
Settling is what it is.
Damn you greedy ass Khedira.
Schneiderlin seems like a better fit so I hope this happens. Dean has been hinting at it for weeks.

If Khedira is our first choice and Schneiderlin is our second, is it not logical to go for Schneiderlin if the Khedira move falls through?
No.
Khedira would have brought a certain aura, presence, dynamism and quality that Schneiderlin just does not have. For me the more logical step would to have been to cast our net a bit further in our search for a player of similar stature.
I could be way off but for me Schneiderlin is a conservative signing of the kind that won't push us as far as we need to get to win the league.
This is the one. Been saying from the get go.
You're right in that Khedira would bring an aura and physical presence of an established top class player, but still not convinced he's the right fit in terms of how he'd form a partnership with Ramsey and others. Sometimes big names is not as important as having the right fit. E.g. Kos and Mertesacker. I can understand the fuss over Schneiderlin and I think it'd make sense. But not sure Wenger will value him as highly as Southampton will. I guess they'll be looking for a Lallana fee, ยฃ25m.

And who could this mystery player be?
Paul Poggy
