Same with Coquelin. If a 3 year proven Schneiderlin isn't a step up then who is? The likes of Busquets.
Higuain in his two years at Napoli hasn't even managed 20 league goals in one season, Cavani averaged around 25 a season for them. So that is possibly why they don't see him as elite. I see Higuain in the same way I see Jackson Martinez, both good players but I have my doubts whether they are good enough for top clubs. As for Cavani, would have loved to have signed him last year but the guy has struggled for PSG when he has played upfront. In big games for PSG in the CL he has looked poor for them and people are judging him on that. Also doesn't help that PSG would want silly money for him. Especially with a lack of forwards on the market and Ibra getting on. With such a lack of top quality strikers we either overpay for good ones (but aren't elite) or we take a punt on a younger player to come good.
As for Schneiderlin, again you keep on going on about how proven he is but nobody is denying that. What people are probably thinking is why spend £25m on a player who isn't a significant improvement on Coquelin. No doubt Schneiderlin is better but £25m better, I am not so sure. Journalists in France are already saying Coquelin should be called up for France and that he has a chance to get in ahead of Schneiderlin in the DM position, maybe they are clueless as well? My view is we need an elite passing player there not an improved version of Coquelin. A better version of Arteta is what I'd really want to sign.
