Yes. He also knows how good Coquelin is. As much as I'm a fan of Ramsey's skill set and talent, what he does (when he's not scoring) can be replaced or imitated to a large extent by other players in the squad. Your Rosicky's, Your Arteta's, your Wilshere's. What Coquelin brings, on the other hand in terms of defensive solidity and screening, discipline and ball winning is not nearly as replaceable.
You don't have much of an understanding of what Ramsey does on the field if you think Rosicky/Arteta/Wilshere can replace him. If that were true our 13-14 season wouldn't have gone off a cliff as soon as he got injured. He's occasionally indisciplined and inconsistent with his decision making, but overall he's a world-class player who can do everything on a football pitch. He always shows for the ball, is an excellent passer, makes runs up the pitch, has the engine to cover central midfield defensively, and has excellent chemistry with Özil, Giroud, and Walcott. He sees the game very well, always takes charge, and always drives us forward.
A sitting ball winner is not a priority for a top team in the modern game. If we want to reach the top playing Wenger's style we need to emulate Real Madrid and Barcelona, not Sunderland. Control in midfield is what matters, not acrobatic sliding tackles.
