Szczesny needs to be dropped

He missed 3 league games this season before he was dropped. He missed one league game last season. And that was the one Wenger let Fabianski play as a goodbye/warm up for the cup. Interestingly he also made more saves last season than Cech, Lloris or DeGea.

I know sentiment against him is running negative, but you don't do that without being a pretty decent keeper...

Not last season we wouldn't have been, maybe with Cech. Lloris and DeGea both had worse seasons than Szczesny though. His forms not at its peak now but the reactionary writing him off is pathetic.

Szczesny isn't good enough, we really need to be looking at buying a new keeper.

I think Szcz can be outstanding if he is pushed the right way.
His development has stagnated a bit but i don't think it's terminal.
He has most of the required tools and just has to learn how to apply them.

Chez's arrogant personality seems to cross over into rash play on the pitch consistently. This is what bothers me more than anything really. Still think he's a solid keeper tho. Love his passion for arsenal.

Think that's one of his strengths as a keeper, it can give confidence to the defence, I rated him highly in his first two seasons as a starter, but he hasn't improved, him making outstanding saves has become something to hope for rather than expect, his decision making has gone worse, and he seems to be comfortable where he is at. He's a solid PL keeper but not world class.

I've never had a major issue with Szcz as our number one but he looked pretty disconnected in the Southampton game.
He's got to sharpen up his act now.

does the defense have confidence in him? wenger talked the other week about the lack of communication at the back. does that start with him or is it one of the centerbacks who has to take responsibility for organizing? if the defense doesn't trust him, that could be a problem.

It looks like that. A lot of what seems to me like big exaggerations about his form, performance in games, not mentioning his good performances etc.
But who knows? maybe ospina will be a revelation? I hope so.

What I actually believe will happen is that Chez will continue to piss people off, and continue to need excitement and get bored on yearly cycles (hope they become biannual with time?), get benched and 'heroically fight his way back'. All the while having some competition, but never a WC keeper that keeps him out.

Not suggesting it is an issue but the stuff his dad came out with recently regarding his teammates is toxic for unity.

My concerns around szczesny simply stem from seeing him in matches. His decision making, especially at crucial moments, has been poor. He hasn't always been punished for it but you can always see it. This decision making leads to him taking unnecessary risks and it is luck more than anything he hasn't been caught out.

He also projects this confident air but I don't believe it's genuine as i thinkhis reaction to the second goal at Southampton shows. The way he sipped his drink he looked pretty pathetic and he looked more like a kid wanting to be comforted. Hardly a keeper fully confident in his abilities who would just get on with the game like nothing has happened.
