Thats part of it alright.

Not at all for me, I love that aspect of him. I just don't trust his decision making when coming out of goal, it's as simple as that. It's something I've been convinced he'd improve on but there's no sign of it. Hence, his time has come.

I mean his time has come to be dropped or replaced. He may get better but it shouldn't be at our expense, I don't think the other aspects of his game are so good that it warrants that sort of patience.

That's a major part of why I like him. Same as Lehmann in the past. I love it when my keepers are arrogant and confident.

Actually I still have no problems with him in goal. Like I said previously, it's pretty hard to find someone better unless we go the Chelsea route. I haven't forgotten the days when we had fucking Almunia in goal, so I learn to appreciate quality more.

Absolutely. It's a key ingredient to me.

Szczesny's problem is simply that he isn't very good. He makes a wonder save in one half only to drop a clanger in the second one. He hasn't developed the way you expected him to when he broke through. Shit happens. Time to acknowledge it and move on, though. He has tended the goal in almost 200 games at top level. That's more experience than most keepers will ever have in their lifetime. If he hasn't cut the crap out by now he likely never will.

i'm almost of the same mind as klaus. chesney is on his last chance for me, he needs to cut out the bad habits now. i'm surprised it's taken this long in the season for him to be caught out, imo it's been coming

Don't think those clean sheet stats mean anything. What's a little more damning is that it's been impossible to separate Szczesny's better performances from those of his replacements. We haven't missed a beat without him, and we've faced a few good teams.

Fortunately for him Schez decided to pile up his fuck ups just before Koscielny returned and le Coq came into his own.

I would like to see Oooooooooos-pinaaaah actually make you a few proper, outstanding saves before I make up my mind about his abilities or lack thereof.

Yeah, it's difficult to know exactly what he's about when he's been protected well and seldom called upon to do anything particularly difficult.
Wenger will stick with him now I reckon so we'll see soon enough if he really is a cut above Szcz.

Ospina has yet to be tested but he deserves a chance to face a test at least. Martinez isn't in the conversation. I still think Szczesny is the best keeper of the 3 by a distance but his antics have lost him his place and he shouldn't get it back until he earns it.

at this point though, how does he earn it back other than ospina making a few mistakes? in that case, it just went back to him by default. im sure he'll start the FA cup game and even if he plays well, does wenger drop ospina for villa at home? would be pretty harsh if he did.
