at this point though, how does he earn it back other than ospina making a few mistakes? in that case, it just went back to him by default. im sure he'll start the FA cup game and even if he plays well, does wenger drop ospina for villa at home? would be pretty harsh if he did.

How does anyone win their place? He should get the cup games and if he performs and Ospina doesn't he earns his place back. Its not rocket science.

Szczesny can play the cup game like Ospina did when he was #2 and Ospina continues in the league until he cocks up like Szczesny did.

😆 I don't think DDG is often positioned very badly when he makes his nice saves, but he's obviously not as good as Courtois when it comes to preventing situations altogether.

What Ospina has given us the last 3 games is safety first in our defensive game. Now nobody has to worry about a mindless charge off the line and having to cover for that. Its fair to say he hasnt been exposed , but he hasnt put himself in a risky position either. I say we stick with him as long as he doesnt cock up and our defense keeps its shape.

we look so much more calm at the back with ospina in there. he made one good save today, made one small mistake, and his distribution was decent.

It's hard to say how good Ospina is. He doesn't look particularly outstanding to me, but I believe the broader point is that we haven't missed a beat since dropping Szczesny.

I'd gladly replace both of them in the summer with a class keeper.

Yeah I raised that point myself in the match thread. It is a maybe though. It's hard to indentify the difference he's made or not because the team in general has improved defensively for several reasons. And as I said he deserves to keep his ace so far. Early days though.

He has looked better in traffic than I thought he would. His size still makes me a little nervous but he is showing its not really an issue.
