Yeah I don't see why he'd stay. Similar to Flamini he's unlikely to stay under a manager who didn't rate him for years.

It's to his advantage that he can sign as late as he wants to plus he can get a big sign-on from clubs who won't have to pay a fee.

No manager rated him for years. Maybe if there's a club that's a quarter as big as Arsenal that gives a shit about this guy's existence he might leave but I doubt there is.

Doing a lot better than I thought he would, I think helped by the midfield and defence generally keeping numbers back and organised. Still to be convinced he has a long term future here but he certainly isn't doing his chances any harm with recent performances. Think we need two DMs in the squad and with Arteta's legs nearly gone and Flamini's already finished certainly a place up for grabs.

He's pretty good in the air as well isn't he? Got a good leap on him which is something I had never noticed.

If he's good enough for us he's good enough for nearly everyone else. It's not like he's a secret only we know about.

He's played 5 games. The jury is definitely still out as to whether or not he's good enough for us. Whether or not he's a good footballer is significantly more of a concern than the possibility that he'll leave for greener pastures at this point.

never thought he'd make it here, but his recent contributions are much appreciated. hope he can keep it up. i imagine he'll leave on a free this summer for guaranteed playing time elsewhere, but there's also the small possibility that he keeps up his form and wenger decides to be cheap again and go with coquelin instead of schneiderlin/other top class CM.

Rambo had some sublime moments that game, though he meandered too far again from time to time.

This bloke Coquelin reminds me of Flamster in his heyday. Not particularly technically gifted (tho better than Flams) but a lot of hustle and real spike to him.

I don't think he's bad on the ball at all, not for the sort of role he's playing. Has a lot of composure and generally finds his man.

As the guys on MotD pointed out, he's always looking what's going on around him and then positions himself accordingly. Compare that to how Flamini had no idea where Agüero was for his goal at the Emirates and you'll see why we were so much better defensively today.

The way he slowed down their attacks today was impressive as hell. Even if he just ran at someone and made them change direction, it gave our guys a chance to get back into position.

IMO Schneiderlin is not better than Coquelin (I mean, compared to his today performance).

Schneiderlin is a top DM, but we need a beast.

Schneiderlin is definitely better than Coquelin, come on. I hope Coq sticks around too but the guy looked awful in a bunch of appearances for us in previous years and got loaned to a Championship side six months ago. Let's see his true level over a longer stretch of games. And it's not like he never got chances here, not sure why he'd have any bitterness towards us. If he plays well he has an opportunity to be an important player for a CL side, why would he run away from that?

it's not that he'd run away, it's that he's at the age where he needs to play, and his playing time would be very limited for us. if he had any ambition, he'd sign elsewhere.

and of course schneiderlin is better than coquelin, lets not be ridiculous.

I mean if he keeps this up he'd get significant time for us. Being a backup for Arsenal basically ensures you 15+ starts a season.

At 24 (in the summer) his next contract is likely to be the most significant one so money will matter. Every other club can offer a decent sign-on for a free player.
