Think he's definitely our best option in defensive midfield from current personnel. Has added some much needed intensity to our midfield.

Come on Coq, push on from here! I had really high hopes for him when he first broke through. Would be shame if he didn't fulfill his promise.

I see that "Coquelin over Arteta" is the new "Flamini over Arteta". I wonder when the first "Coquelin isn't as good as he used to be" thread will pop up. Unless, of course, Coquelin is already playing for Burnley before opinion turns.

all he's doing is proving what a failure wenger is at signing players we need. he has this myopic view that it takes super super quality to outperform his stars. but a guy who was on loan in the championship this season and wasn't very good on loan in the bundesliga last season has been a revelation because he offers something the others don't. how easily is this defensive midfield problem solved if he just went out and looked for a real replacement. it doesn't take super quality, sign some damn players.

Played well today. Thought his performance against West Ham was a little over-hyped though.

Today was an easy game though. It'll be interesting to see how he copes against better opposition, especially away from home.

He did really well again. The thing about him is, he never gives up and keep hassling his opponents. Help to break their rhythm alot.

He reminds me of Lassana Diarra. If he continues on this upward trajectory, he will have a very good career at top level.

He should be 3rd choice at the start of next season behind Beast Player and Arteta, then look to overtake Arteta throughout the 15-16 season. Good squad player, especially since he is also sort of capable at filling in at fullback.

Played really well recently. Has really surprised me and proved me wrong so far. Far superior player to Flamini.

Unfortunately, that doesn't say too much. We'd look much better still in that position with a player like Schneiderlin or someone of similar quality.

getting the required quality in that position will open our game up so much. someone defensively sound who can pass, and can actually cover the ground. we have a bunch of players that do bits and pieces of the above.

Yup. Said over the summer that it was the position that most needed an upgrade, and it still is. Had we settled that our campaign would have been a totally different story at this stage of the season.

Thought he looked okay, at the moment he is our best option. At least he is trying to break up the opposition and makes challenegs. Flamini is just contsnatly backing off and yelling at others to move around.

The game where Coquelin struggled to make a difference in thus far was against Southampton IMO. That is by far the best team we have played since Coquelin got into the team. In fairness to the guy, he didn't really have any time to get used to the step up in quality that the PL is. It will be very interesting to see how he copes tomorrow against yet again a quality side. Tomorrow night we may know more about what Coquelin can and cannot contribute to the team going forward.

He did a good enough job, yes, but a midfielder at Arsenal should help control a game from the middle of the park, and that he did not.
