23 goals, of which 6 is in the cups against minnows and 6 in the UCL against Ajax and Apoel.

I am not against him, he is out of form and only have a meagre 11 goals in the league. I would take him for 20m.

6 goals in the CL is what Giroud has scored in 3 years here.

With Cavani it's all about what he costs in transfer fee plus wages at 29.

He keeps scoring but his performances don't inspire the confidence he will deliver in this League.

I don't know if there is a really exciting talent around who we can snap and develop behind Giroud. That would be my preference for a center forward.

Give Giroud Apoel Nicosia and Ajax and he can score the same amount. We have had very difficult groups for 3 years.

Not to mention he didn't play in UCL grp stage at all this season.

There's Jovetic, who we've been linked to again by the houseboat papers. Easily worth a punt at the age of 25. Subject to injuries, of course, but it looks like he's fit. He just doesn't get picked at the moment.

Yeah and I suppose the 20 odd he got in 25 games for Napoli in the champions league were poor too also the french league cup final this season, the league cup final last season, the cup final for Napoli against juve in 2011-12, Hatricks against Juventus, Milan, Lazio, Roma and Inter Milan. Just doesn't cut it does he.

Greizmann playing up-top for Atletico has 25, Lacazette looks promising and you want younger players gotta take a punt on Vietto, Dybala etc.

It really makes you look stupid when you ignore the point that what we are saying is that it's hard for someone who's 29 to be back into his previous form after being so poor for 2 years now. Fernando Torres had superb goalscoring records for Liverpool too, shall we dig it out? It's a valid concern.

I have said it before and I will say it again, for a cheap punt I would take him. But otherwise if we are spending big I prefer a young exciting talent or someone that is better.

French league cup final? Jesus, we're really starting to reach here.

What does Torres got to do with it? Torres scored frequently ages ago.

Cavani scores frequently now.

Will he score as frequently from significant games on the wing too? No like Suarez, Villa and Henry he won't. But probably by your standards were so poor in those periods.

Yeah Milan, Juve, Inter, Roma, Lazio and all those champions league goals too.

Keep making nonsensical one-liners.

Goals are only half the story though, his performances have been poor. That's been clear in every game he's played, particularly in the Champions league.

I don't really care what he did two years ago.

No, because I addressed that two posts above.

You seem easy to bait, I reckon i can get you banned in another two posts. 🙂

You seem to be a regular watcher of PSG games if you are really analysing his games. And going by a couple of high profile CL games I could say the same about Giroud if I was a fan of another team and happened to catch Giroud against Monaco at home.

Until two months ago, I wasn't sold on Giroud either.

And 2 months of form convinced you. That's all I need to know.  😆

I never said anything about not needing another striker, more because Welbeck barely counts as a striker anyway. The point is that Cavani does not appear to be the solution - certainly not for anything over 20m.

I think everyone has seen enough of Cavani in club and international football to assess that he just isn't at that same level he was when in Italy. The goals count in Ligue 1 may not be a fair reflection of his level. Giroud scored plenty too. He has played on the wings mostly and there is a chance he might rediscover his touch at another club, but it's just a chance. Question is what's that chance worth for a club like ours?

If Cavani was playing better or even at the same level he did in Italy, I wouldn't have a problem with us paying whatever it took to get him here, irrespective of age. He isn't though and will turn 29 soon. The goals argument can be specious.
