Ox’s return is now estimated to be for the 4th May match at Hull City however as he hadn’t returned to training by last week that seems unlikely.

This has been constantly re-evaluated and pushed back – which is the frustrating part that we see. It’s quite possible that he’s a victim of his own youthful over-exuberance, which is typical when rest is a key part of the healing process.

Surgery has also been mentioned as a possible solution if rest is not effective.

You're right Gurgen, it seems he might be back.
I was under the impression that he was done for the rest of the season but maybe not.

In that case, I agree, he's a good option on the right wing.

Disappointed in his development. Still hair brained and technically inconsistent. Noone of the britsh players have improved much under wenger tbh.

Before I assess the state of his development I'm going to give him far more than four games (games in which, to my eyes, he's been average as opposed to woeful).
He had a similarly slow start to last season but had played himself into good form before injury hit.

They're all limited by virtue of being British.

I think the biggest failure and sadness is thinking that somehow they could overcome their Britishness, if we got them early, but alas, it weren't to be.

Only Wilshere has the requisite technique. Sadly, so does Sterling. Pedro and Sterling were big misses.

He's played 230 games for us. I'm actually shocked he's played so many, to be honest.

Been spinning his wheels for a while now. Wenger certainly doesn't do him any favours moving him around, playing him on the wing however.

I think the great thing about Aaron in the middle is that even when his attacking game is off his engine and his ability to go up and down make him very useful regardless. That's not really the case at No.10 and on the right, where his end product needs to be a lot more consistent. I don't think Santi has been playing particularly well there either so it's time to move him back.

Ramsey looked great in a very technical quintet of Arteta, Wilshere, Cazorla/Rosicky and Ozil.

People forget that we lost Chamberlain, Podolski and Walcott to injury in the first half of 13/14.

We were playing 5 central playmakers with no pace behind Giroud during the time we led the table.

Ramsey looked great running forward pass Ozil and Giroud, whilst the other 4 were enablers for him.

Now we have Chamberlain, Coquelin and Sanchez in that 5, none of whom enable Ramsey.

It's obvious as day that the system of 13/14 enabled him.

Decent describes him for most of his career here. Aside from the anomaly of a season.

I'd have to disagree with that. One of the first names on the team sheet for me - and has been since 2013.

I thought he was better than just decent in the 2nd half. It can't be easy having a different role every game. For what it's worth, I actually thought he was our best player in the 2nd half. He was everywhere and was conducting play. He will never be top class technically but that is just fine as long as the entire team isn't at the same technical level. He started off poorly but his touch became better as the nerves settled.

I see a reaction against him here that seems based solely on his performance this season, for me these first four games have told me nothing apart from telling me that our best players are still a way off of their best form.

I can't believe we're focusing so much on individual performances when it's clear that it's a collective failure of system

Ramsey has played in three different positions since the start of the season.
We seem to be rotating strikers in every game.
We have an uneven midfield base

Of course everyone's playing poorly.

In any criticism of him this needs to be accounted for.

It isn't an excuse for a poor touch in general but it would do no player any favours.

That's the point, the sample size is huge. There's also a season in which he was pitiful, a season where he was OK/Good, and a season where he was decent.

Looking more and more like a mistake. From Vieira to Fabregas to Ramsey.

I agree, that he is a definite starter, but he epitomises our team. Inconsistent, patchy, lacking top drawer technique and all over the place.
