Slightly, but ever so, above dud mode vs Dortmund.

Ridiculous seeing him charge forward at every opportunity. Was having a laugh when Martinez saved a long shot late in the game (_88th minute) and in the corner of the screen you can see Ramsey charge upfield for a long ball - all while Martinez is laying down to slow the game.

Maybe a stamina/pace issue, last year he was running constantly, even in the 90th minute.

Nothing to do with his stamina. Go look at how he pressed and ran from the 80th to the 90th minute. He was the only one constantly pressing high up.

If he can avoid the current injury blight I reckon he'll be back on track given a few more games.

His stamina is fine - he was pressing and running throughout. Just needs to play 10-20 yards deeper throughout the game, and he'll be far more involved in play. In turn his pressing will be more meaningful and Arteta won't be so stranded.

I thought he had a very good game tonight. Lots of tackles and interceptions, supported the attack, but generally had his balance right between attack and defense. He still seems less confident on the ball, but he had a strong game.

Just watched the game. Really hated the way he played, but I've been biased against him from the beginning to be fair. Thinks he's fucking Bergkamp or something. Not a CM in a million years the way he's playing now, really needs to be brought down a few notches and told to play his goddamn position.

Cazorla had a better defensive game than he did, it's honestly just plain stupid the way he's being utilized and/or the decisions he's making.

If Arteta had been skinned once or twice or if one of those Dortmund counters had resulted in goals, Ramsey would be roundly criticized for his performance I'd say. Think we won in spite of him to some extent.

He got forward very often and made good runs (which is fine, more or less), but on several occasions when we lost the ball he'd hang around the edge of their box for a few seconds before jogging back. Definitely wasn't doing that last season.

The complaints are justified. Nevertheless, he is improving, and Ramsey on the way back - hopefully a road that doesn't take all year - has to be good news for us. This team looks hopeless, and his drastic drop in form is one of the more obvious reasons for that.

Those stat surprised me, there's surely something very wrong with the Dortmund team. In the previous 5 matches against them we didn't even go close in matching their team average distance.

Looks like I'm alone here but I thought Ramsey played well against both United and Dortmund.

May not be outstanding but nobody else in the squad could do what he he is doing now.
Think about what his replacement (Flamini?, Joel?, Podolski?) would have contributed instead of him.
