Curious what pick up games are like where you all live?

There was a fantastic regular game for a few years on a 40 yard turf field. Just got shut down due to complaints from the school - shame, as it was one of the few truly competitive pick up games I've found.

Been surprised how hard it is to find pick up games when traveling.

I haven't played regularly for about 2 years, I was a RB/ CB then.

End of season trophies I've received; The 'Gunnersaurus Award', and 'Own Goal of the Season'. Will cherish them till the day I die.

IKR!

An odd term but assume he just meant a regular organised game that anyone can join in. Not aware of any such thing here.

Sounds more like something Alfonso would indulge in.

True, it could just be what Alfonso gets up to with Premiership footballers in the clubs.

This is correct.

a year later

Been training my son, he's turning into a pretty decent keeper.
Its every dads dream to watch his child play, I'm proud as punch. :opti:

Wants me to get him a Petr Cech helmet ffs.

Get him into an academy.

Yeah, he's in a club but I might get him more specialised training.

Who's that bastard in the black 'n white!
Oh crap its me- Reffed my first game today, its harder than it looks and taught me a bit more tolerance for them.
Usually I'm on the other side of the law, but people said I did okay.

I play central midfield.

It's all rather subjective but I think playing centrally is much more difficult than playing in a wide position.

I prefer being central though, options on the ball in every direction. Less predictability, more scope for progress. Out wide it feels like the options are more limited and your actions are more predictable.
