Went through a few pages, but couldn't see a thread on this. wondered who played, where they palyed, what they thought their strengths and weaknesses were

I play 5,6 and 7-aside, I haven't played 11 since school. I play Right back, it seems to match my skill set. I have bags of stamina, too short to play CB, and stronger than I look, so can knock attackers off a ball and love a physical challenge. Attackers hate me. I don't play dirty, but I can get my foot in and often get enough of the ball to disrupt an attackers intentions. I get comments about having a good engine, or being like a bullet when the oppositions receiving a ball.

I'm having to curb my enthusiasm to clear a ball, so times it's not necessary. It's not a bad thing, but sometime I could be making more of the opportunity than hoof it. Sometimes when I clear the ball from my half, I aim as far up field towards the goal. Sometimes this catches everyone off guard and I score from my half.

I'm also having to curb my instinct to get the foot in and simply jostle the attackers, especially when I'm the final man before the goalie, as when I fail to get enough contact he clean on goal. I am becoming more vocal, but this is another skill to work on. It seems to come naturaly to some players and not to others.

I'm not a technical player at all, but I'm working on close ball skills. I've noticed my short passing game has come on loads now, and with it my confidence to go forward.

We often play 4 teams of 6-aside, playing the other 3 times in 30 min games. Everyone wants to attack, it's rare that anyone else has my defensive instincts, unless they prefer to play in goal. When everyone goes forward, I move to a more CB position. I'm always thinking about my positioning and always looking.

This has led to me being picked early for by team the more familiar everyone becomes with me, which in turn build my confidence.

I love it, I've grown proud to call myself a RB, and territorial about my quarter of the pitch.

Sure there must be an old thread somewhere but I play 11 a side in winter and 5 a side over summer. Been a goalkeeper ever since I started playing for a team at 12 so possibly started a bit later than many people. My team didn't have a full time keeper and being new I didn't have a position so I initially dabbled in half games up front and half in goal but found I quite liked playing in goal and wasn't bad at it so stayed there full time and 15 years later I'm still there. My Dad had been a rep field hockey goalie in his youth and my brother a rep wicket keeper so there must be some similar kind of natural skills we have inherited.

I play 11 a side in an over 35s league. Mostly play centre back now but played a lot of my younger years as a left back even though I'm right footed. Helped my left foot get pretty strong. Like you scooner I love the physical side of the game and getting on top of my opponent. I'm very vocal which is probably why I'm the team captain. While I love playing in defence I would probably prefer to play fullback or midfield so that I could get more of a chance to be creative and get involved. I'm a pretty good crosser and can lay on a good through ball. Unfortunately we have heaps of midfielders and very few defenders.

Centre-mid.

I'm boss and have no weaknesses.

Up front in 7 a side.

Poor finisher, lack composure under pressure, often don't get my head up. On the bright side I have excellent movement and and know how to beat a man.

DM, tenacious hard bastard in the Mascherano mould.

On the left. Basically a better version of Messi.

Right wing back/right winger. I moulded my style on Eboue.

I started on the flanks, as right fullback because I had pace and could generally beat my man. But I often struggle to get all the way back because of my lack of stamina. Thus I moved up to a winger, but often get lambasted for the failure to track attackers and help my fullbacks. Basically I am an extremely lazy no stamina player, poor man's Arshavin.

Discovered my new position 2 years ago as a pivot and basically just stay in front of the defence. I could pass really well though.

CAM / CDM.

Good: Everything apart from heading & vollies.

Striker. Mainly 7 aside these days.
Good: decent goal scorer, good close control & being 6'5 helps!
Bad: Lazy as fuck

RWB since i can defend AND cross. Can cover for CB since i can defend and im 6'3 or CDM since i can defend and spot a pass. These were my preferences. Dominated the air and had ok stamina. Like to be the "vocal leader" on and off the pitch.

Equally comfortable as a trequartista, a false 9 or even a regista at times but the manager usually plays me at right back.

Some shit footballers on here. 😆

RB these days - was playing a lot of 5 a sides and was sick of no one on my team defending so I moved back from more attacking positions to be a defender (play 2-2-1 in fives). Had always enjoyed the physical side and prided myself on delivery so it was a natural switch.

Play 11v11 once to twice a weak in a league and 5's once a week.....plus usually a pick up game or two.

More Sagna than Eboue.....

Im basically a Jenkinson 😆

Retired at 34. Anything other than 11 aside is for kids, so naturally I didn't play anything other than that since I was 14. Started out as a striker, played most of my football as a proper midfielder. Lack of pace was my only weakness, up to a certain level, have nutmegged Anders Limpar and went on to score. I win. 🙂

For the record, the main difference between what we 'normal' guys lack compared to even Championship level players is the ability to process what goes on around us on the pitch fast enough. You can compensate to a certain degree with outstanding athleticism, but it won't get you far enough. Stamina, tackling, technique can all be practiced to a decent enough level, but not that.

I used to play RW but eventually my lack of pace led me back to CM. Got a decent range of passes on me and have decent dead ball ability. Have scored a couple of free kicks 😃. My tackling is woeful though, always seem to miss the ball and get the ankle or leg...
