Well, one is a winger and one is a central player so that would inform the choice.

Hazard is probably more of a central player, too, to be fair.

In my perfect world, we'd buy M'Vila, play with two proper central midfielders and drop this playmaking role that Ramsey and Rosicky have played all season. Hazard would be more capable than Kagawa playing wide in that scenario.

Played there nearly all season. I prefer him wide as well though.

Point I was making is who knows where Wenger would play Kagawa (or Hazard).

I would take Kagawa over Hazard.

I think we're covered wide with Podolski and Chamberlain next season. We lack a real playmaker though, and since we've seemingly reverted back to some kind of structure that relies on one we need to make sure to actually replace Cesc this summer.

Seriously, unless we're going to sign Dennis Bergkamp to play that role, I'd much rather the role didn't exist.

I'm not the one who puts together the team. If it were up to me I'd scrap the wide players. I don't think we'll get punished for it at all. Other teams would need to adapt to us as much as we need to adapt to them or risk being exposed when they attack down the flanks.

Anyway, I preferred when we had Song, Arteta and Ramsey in midfield. They distributed the ball well, pressed superbly and worked hard in both ends. The problem with a traditional 4-3-3 is that it puts most of the creative responsibility on the forward line though, and we had no one with skills apart from van Persie up there. People seemed to blame the midfield for that for some reason.

I believe We do need a playmaker. That way Song can give us a break from his Zidanesque impressions and perhaps, improve his positioning and effectiveness defensively. We need a quality somebody to fill the creative void in midfield, and offer us a more consistent scoring threat than either Ramsey or Rosicky.

Oh, I just remembered that we have a certain Jack Wilshere somewhere on our team roster.

I think we need to make sure that the front three players + their back ups can score the bulk of the goals. We don't need a goal scoring, creative superstar if the attacking players do their job, just someone who can move the ball quickly and drive the team forward, even if he's not on the score sheet himself. I'm sure Wilshere will be able to that.

Not in the Man United way - cross, cross, cross. More like creative players on the flank, that can beat a man, but also pick a clever pass and put chances away more often than not.

With the signing of Podolski, it doesn't seem like that's the direction the team is taking. We'll need a creator in the hole (assuming Podolski is first choice on the left, and not just a back up for RVP)

Hazard would definitely take over the Theo role. With him, we wouldn't need a playmaker. We'd have a front three of Podolski, RvP and Hazard who could create for themselves and the others quite effectively. Wilshere just behind them would be charged with getting the ball to them quickly and letting them create and score.

If you got in Kagawa, OTOH, you could put him central and Theo or Wilshere wide right. He'd be able to push higher up than you'd expect Wilshere in the above formation. This attack would have slightly less technical quality, but potentially more goals given that all 4 frontmen are scorers.

Never touch Julio Baptista. We never did actually sign him permanently.
But at 59 pages before the summer begins, this has legs.

There's no trophies to boast about. We can just sit and dream about a brighter future where Hazard will be setting up a 20 goal-a-season Oxlade-Chamberlain. It's miserable.
