I reckon Chamberlain and Hazard have big goal scoring potential. I also think Wilshere and Ramsey (who's obviously not in that line-up) will be double figure players in the future.

It's just that they're all too young and haven't fully matured into the players they will become. Would still be exciting though.

unfortunately, matches are played in the present and not the future. i generally agree with you, but we need quality (and goals) now, and whenever our young players are ready to displace that quality, that's when we sell the older player if that's appropriate.

Problem is how do we get these players that are ready-made stars, that are going to bang all these goals in, into the club? Even if we have enough money for one or two, and currently we don't (maybe if we sort the squad out and cut a lot of the players that are of no use we might have the money needed for the massive transfer fees and even large wages), but how do we convince them to come here over other richer and currently more successful/competitive clubs?

i dont think it's as hard as we make out. we're not some shit team playing in north dakota - we're the 5th richest team in the world, playing in one of the world's top 5 cities, in arguably the best league in the world.

you offer them 150k/week, get him on a videoconference with van persie so they both know they're in, and you tell them who else you're going to sign. you tell them we're done with the youth project (obviously, since we're signing them), then you have thierry henry and robert pires ring them up and tell them how going to arsenal was the best thing that ever happened to them, and you're done.

oh, and you dont send dick law anywhere near them or their agent.

Wilshere does not look like a born goal-getter. He'll probably chip in about half a dozen goals a season at most, at least in the league.

That's exactly how I imagine David Dein going about the problem, Kami. You get the feeling we lack a bit of a schmoozer at the club these days.

He has definitely looked that way in his time in the first team, but at youth level he used to bang goals in for fun, so we'll see. Maybe you would have said the same about Cesc at about the same age? Lest hope Jack develops in a similar way.

you can see potenrial goalscorers in both jack and rambo. both get into excellent positions

I think Bandy is right. But 5-10 goals in a season would be a decent return anyway.

My main issue with Jack is not that he score a lot, but that he put away some of the excellent chances he gets. He spurned quite a few before he got injured.

He needs to shoot more. I remember last season there were at least 2-3 incidents where he could of scored some absolutely magical solo goals after taking out 2-3 players with his burst of acceleration and quick feet, yet chose to pass it at the final moment. Usually to Chamakh. Say no more.

He can shoot very well. He smashed the crossbar against Birmingham in the build up to RvP's goal and there are a couple of other instances where he made the wrong decision or was a little unlucky.

Also: I was right above this at the Emirates Cup.

I'm not billing him as a free scoring midfielder yet but I wouldn't rule it out either.

We won't sign this lad, we only get players with this ability when we swoop at a young age or on the few occasions when the top clubs don't move quickly enough. They'll all be sniffing around him now.

Jack ox and hazard could ruin any defence whilst van persie will score. Right now walcott and gervinho are ruining nothing but their reputation.

I agree that our wide forwards lack end product this season. Compared to what the top teams have in similar positions they are not THAT bad though, especially Gervinho. I´d say our problems go deeper than just blaming Theo and Gervinho of being crap.

The problems start for us as a team when they are played TOGETHER. That, on the other hand, is solely on the manager.

Gervinho - 4 goals 5 assists
Walcott - 3 goals 4 assists

Mata - 4 goals 7 assists
Sturridge - 9 goals 2 assists

Nani - 6 goals 7 assists
Young - 2 goals 5 assists

Nasri - 3 goals 7 assists
Silva - 5 goals 12 assists

Bale - 7 goals 7 assists
Van der Vaart - 7 goals 4 assists

Arshavin had excellent stats last season despite playing piss poor most of the time. Stats fail to give us the whole picture. The problem is, our wingers are not good footballers. They're a liability in our build up play, their end product is inconsistent and their technique is erratic. You can only really judge the first and third qualities empirically.

To further enhance your point, Rex, the Spurs stat should include Lennon and not van der Vaart. Lennon has only 3 goals and 3 assists.

You need your wide forwards and AMs to either make chances (like Silva), get on the end of chances (like Sturridge) or do a bit of both like Bale. Our guys all have their feet up in the first class cabin.

(The main) Problem isn't end product, it's that they don't bring others into play. We're limited and predictable with Gervinho and Walcott whereas Nani and Mata make their teams fluid and difficult to defend against.

We've also shifted to a proper 4-3-3 formation, which means that the forwards have bigger playmaking responsibilities. We're incredibly ill-suited to that kind of football at the moment.

Thing is Lennon and Bale help Tottenham establish a stronger control in the game, which allows players like VDV and Adebayor to win matches for them. Gervinho and Walcott are constantly making poor decisions all over the pitch, killing alot of potential moves for us. Without any full backs the problem is excerbated, because now they have to collect the ball from deeper positions and they lack any sort of ability to be effective outside the final third.

My real point Ricky, and why Lennon should NOT be brought into the equation, is that we have too few goalscorers. Period. It isn´t just Gervinho and Walcott is it? Apart from RVP we have nothing.

All the other teams have other players contributing other than their main wide forwards and their main striker. We don´t.
