• The Arsenal
  • Oxlade-Chamberlain getting ready for the new season

I've thought that for a long time. Just don't see this supposed 'superstar' in Chamberlain everyone else seems to.

And they say he is so much better than Sterling...

So much basic flaws in his game. If he can cut out on his mistakes when dribbling he will be twice the player

i don't care who is a better player on paper. i just want campbell starting the next game because someone else has to get a chance. and if he shits the bed then hopefully walcott will be back soon.

Chamberlain will be a terrifying central player. Becomes clearer by each day.

Terrified me today, for sure.

He had a bad game. Shit happens.

It's always gung ho with him. No variation to his game. Players who can use their blistering pace, knows when to slow down and when to accelerate. Chamberlain always just goes for it; head down, straight up the pitch. Needs to work on his close control and decision making.

people are judging him harshly. he had a mare today, but honestly most of our players have had mares this season. wenger is failing to extract the maximum from his players, which used to be one of his big strengths

This. Been saying it for a long time, he never looked like he has control of the ball when dribbling at speed.

Gnabry is a more direct player. I would have liked to see him wide and Chamberlain centrally.

My comment got deleted, but I don't necessarily agree that he's a better player. I genuinely don't think there's much difference between the two though and Serge hasn't been offered anything near the same number of opportunities.

Regarding Ox, he's still young and learnin'. If he wants to make a career at Arsenal he had better learn to become a devastating wide-forward a la Alex though. Today was a shit game and he should be dropped for Serge/Joel for the CL.

Gnabry hasn't been given any opportunities because he's a crock. He's been injured since last season.

Yep, been saying it for weeks now. His game at the moment is all pace and power, little finesse or intelligence. He's the one that plays like a typical premiership footballer among our British core.

He's very talented though and has it in him to develop into a top footballer but should mainly be used as a super sub at this point.

Not at Arsenal he won't.

I agree with those (few) who think a bad day is not the end of the world.

One thought about sometimes being frustrated by his game: all the talk about a game of patterns and well drilled routines vs a free game (let them sort it out themselves, aka chaos) doesn't always focus on those who benefit and those who suffer from it (as it also neglects to point at specific games and circumstances where this is harmful or beneficial).

Ox seems to me like one of those who, at least at this phase in his career, suffer. He needs to know wtf is going on, and what the logic of our team is to be able to pitch in. When it is he's done it from more than one position, but when it's messy he'll just add to the confusion with individual attempts, at times very ill advised, at times despite being off form.

He's young, he'll learn. And yes, I believe he's a massive talent. Certainly not one of those I'd give up on.

This was supposed to be his breakthrough season. His performance today makes me fear he won't be anything more than a Milner type player. His decision making is shocking.

It was?

Our fans are no worse than the British media. Prematurely elevate our players to lofty height, then see them crash and burn when they inevitably fail. Oxlade is 21 years old for crying out loud.

The real problem is that we've got too many players like him, who should be playing their football at other clubs during their developing years. We shouldn't be in a position where Szczesny, Bellerin, Chambers, Gibbs, Wilshere, Ramsey, Oxlade, Gnabry and others are learning their trade over the years at the first team's expense. The players may or may not be good enough at the end of the day, but if we are to be a top team, we shouldn't be a a bloody creche center.

I'm not overly concerned because everyone has bad games, and for the most part Chamberlain has been good this year. But I don't see him as a CM.....all of his development and his biggest weaknesses suggest to me he'd be better wide.

Completely over rated player, his first touch is criminal and he can't pass the ball. He is a fantastic athlete but nothing else. As with Wilshere, he needs to be on the wing where his fuck ups do us the least damage.

Sure he will.
