We could be very similar in style actually if we modify our midfield setup. They had Schweini + Khedira at the base + Kroos at "10", Özil on left as playmaker, Müller on right as almost a second forward and Klose. We could have Wilshere + Khedira at base (as Schweini + Khedira), Ramsey as Kroos, Özil as himself, Alexis as Müller and Giroud as Klose.

Fixed.

As the all-time leading world cup goal scorer of course.

😆 at the thought of Wilshere playing like Schweiny

Well why not, there have been some soundbites that he will be more of a DM, rather than 10. Pretty much like he played on his first season - as a battling B2B midfielder.

Thought the reasons why Wilshere needs to play further forward were on show yesterday.

A) Close control
B) Insatiable appetite for fast-paced combination play
C) Learned to tackle from Scholes highlight reels

Well the thought of Scweinsteiger playing like Schweinsteiger was pretty laughable until he hit the age of about 25. He was given the chance to play week in week out at centre mid, matured in his approach and never looked back.

Where did he play before that?

Fair Point, he was in similar situation as Wilshere up until then.

Wings

Also see Arteta, Iniesta, Pirlo... Plenty of players are put in different positions before they're trusted at CM.

Even Darren Fletcher started out on the right. The next Becham they said.

Until Jack is mature enough to recognize that playing a 1-2 and taking risks in the centre of the park isn't worth the benefit then he can't play there. Every game he is liable to give the other team a great chance from wasteful and frankly stupid play. He also lacks the nous to be in the right position or make a half decent tackle when needed, so him at CM is kamikaze play at best. His only decent position is either on the RW cutting in or behind the striker.

The bank which owns 40% of his rights has just been bailed out apparently. Reckon they'd accept a low ball offer.

Right up Wenger's alley.

You got a link? Would be interested in learning more about that.

Yeah but then he got chronic diarrhea, so maybe he should have stayed where he was?

Carvalho --------- Ramsey
----------- Özil ------------

Best in the world stuff

We wont sign this guy.

It sounds like pure fabrication to me too. We're not going to spend 30 million euros on this guy given the options that could be available to us this summer. Someone out there is trying to raise his profile through hype rather than letting him raise it himself by performing on the field.

Doesn't jump out as a wengs signing

Lars Bender does though

Speaking of hype, this is pretty much the modus operandi for Portuguese clubs. They're great at convincing the world their players are better than they really are. Porto and Benfica have gotten some first-rate transfer fees out of nothing players like Coentrao, Anderson and Hulk in the past.

There's some truth in that Klaus. They always like to speculate using press to gain interests and will sell for inflated fees, because they only earn a bit part from most of their transfers. It's much more complicated dealing with them because we have to negotiate with 3rd parties as well. Some of the fees they gotten are just amazing. 40m pounds for Mangala, 20m for Markovic after just 1 season etc.

Disagree. He just don't have the end product consistently to play in the final third. He is best at bringing the ball out from deep and running at players.

Most AM's, whether off the wing or through the center, aren't just standing in the final third all the time, they run into it, which Wilshere is very good at doing. Hope he can nail down that left midfield position...dunno if he can pull off either of the CM spots unless its just cover for Ramsey.

Coentrao is great and Anderson could have been if he went to a different club. Hulk was pure hype but it's not like he ever looked that good.

Tony Leen ‏@tonyleen 2m
Arsenal have mentioned, not formally offered, E30m for Carvalho. Sporting taking negotiating stance of E45m. Willing buyer and seller. (1/2).

Tony Leen ‏@tonyleen 1m
(2/2) Sporting know they've no chance of E45m for Carvalho so my reliable contact says expect gap to close fast between them and Arsenal.

Tony Leen is more reliable than any of the dodgy Khedira sources.

€30m, so £24m. A lot but if Wenger likes the player then whatever.

I saw it here 🙂

Not convinced Carvalho is what we need or even if he'd really improve us that much. At least not €30 mill worth of improvement.

Got the same body build, just needs the hair

Where has he gone?

Feels very smoke-screeny. Loads of stuff coming out at once just as we're supposedly discussing a deal for Khedira.

Would love Khedira to happen but is anyone credible reporting it?

He's not gone yet but plenty of rumours that City have had a bid in that region accepted.
