I'm gonna go ahead and dispel some of the myths about Chelsea and our supposed terrible transfer window.
Last time Chelsea had a player score more than 20 goals in the PL was 2009/2010, that was 5 years ago and they had 4 seasons of nothing much special in terms of goalscorers. It took them 4 years to sign someone of the calibre of Costa who right now seems a dead certainty to score a lot more than 20.
And i don't think this next bit comes out of bitterness or anything like that, but it seems to me that Murinho got lucky to get the players he got. Chelsea as a club have been spreading their tentacles over Europe for the last 10 years. They hit the jackpot last season when one of their feeder clubs produced arguably the best side in the world. It was very easy for Murinho to simply get ready made players without virtually any competition. Good work from Chelsea, sure. But it had nothing to do with the special one.
Point is that that type of player doesn't grow on trees and we're not the only ones struggling to find one. So stop pulling your hair out over nothing.
For us it's only been 2 seasons since we've had a striker like that, and it remains to be seen whether this will be a 3rd. In any case, we've clearly not done that terribly.
