Watch this be the "audacious stunt" (if there actually is one I bet there isn't) at the kit reveal.

Debuchy #2
Gibbs #3

Probably wasn't our first option or we would have done this sooner. Newcastle doesn't bring the best out in players hopefully he steps up here.

He's taken out 'NUFC' from his Twitter bio. It's happening. There you have it lads, our new RB, Matty Debuchy.

Not convinced. What's Kike saying?

There's no way we should be spending anything above 10m on him.

Wenger no está de vacaciones en Brasil y tiene muy cerca el fichaje de Debuchy, del #Newcastle. (France right-back is near to #Arsenal).

Reported fee is 12m. What does it matter?

He is a solid replacement. A bit more imaginative going forward, and a bit worse defensively. A decent compromise since the fuckers decided not to keep our beastly Bac.

Is he really any better going forward? He's looked pretty meh going forward most of the times I've seen him. The comparison with Gibbs is pretty apt.

I said 'more imaginative' as opposed to better. Sagna is good at what he does, and he is better than Debuchy in his crossing. However, Debuchy is good at timing his runs, thus getting the ball into space behind the back 4. If you have noticed, Sagna almost always gets the ball into feet, and therefore seldom provokes defenders to have to turn towards their own goal. Debuchy is also less one-dimensional than Sagna in that he is also comfortable attacking the space between the fullback and the CB.

He's average going forward and shit in defence from what I've seen of him at Newcastle.

We were always bound to be disappointed with Sagna's replacement.

Because Newcastle has a shit structure.

Basically Debuchy is very tenacious in defence, prone to giving away silly penalties because of that. Works immensely hard and overlaps so much better than Sagna. He is no Coleman in attack, but he is better than Gibbs, thats for sure.

Many Arsenal fans wishlisted him when he was brilliant in Euros. No doubt because of Newcastle's struggles his popularity here has dropped and many other better RBs are available, which is why people ain't really taking to him.

I will not be disappointed, Sagna was good for us, but that was it for me good.

We can and hopefully will do a lot better than Sagna.

Warming to this.

Newcastle fans are resigned to him going and say they don't deserve him

He's good on the ball. That's the upside to him over Sagna

Newcastle fans are gutted to be losing him.

Strange those people saying that he's not been up to much when they've seen him, given that he's always played well against us and caused us a lot of problems. At St James' last season he was probably the best player on the pitch.

Yeah I hear that. He looks an intelligent player too.

Maybe we could loan em jenks and get Aurier as well as Debuchy

And now there's this going around in addition to Debuchy removing NUFC from his Twitter bio earlier.

All this social media stuff going on 😆

It's a winking smiley. Bloody hell, this is happening.
