Schneiderlin is the same. I don't think it's a problem for either one of them. I was sceptic about Khedira because of the injury but he's a class player on his day. Bags of defensive instinct.

Impressive come back. Schneiderlin would be a good signing, but Khedira would be an even better signing. Class player.

Still have my reservations about him. Mainly that he wouldn't help free flowing football but then he's a very functional player. The type that wouldn't bottle it at old Trafford or Stamford bridge

Personally I think there are few midfielders with so much defensive intelligence around who also have such an accomplished all-round game. Khedira is a monster in the air too. Could really use him at setpieces since we no longer have Sagna.

Khedira is probably Real Madrid's most underrated player.

Khedira has been made a scapegoat by the Madridistas too and he apparently feels very hard done by. Certainly think a deal can be made there.

Who's been linking us to him?
Anyone worth listening to?
It would be a massive signing for us I think.

What does Kike say?

Real Madrid doesn't understand DMs. Just ask the legend Makalele. Bring this guy in. Khedira, Debuchy, Sanchez and I start to feel happy about the summer

Start? 🙂 I'd be kind of thinking we'd win the league if we signed that trio without losing any of our current squad.

Some people are harder to please than others :egg:

Would love Khedira here if he could defend/was a DM.

Nope. He is a box to box player. We need a dedicated DM like Martinez or Schneiderlin to support Ozil and Ramsey..

The slight problem there is Martinez and Schneiderlin are both box to box midfielders, not DM's.

won't be happy until i see Messi, Cavani and Vidal riding into town.

No they aren't! Both sit deep. Khedira runs all over the place.

Have you seen Khedira before he moved to Madrid? As defensive a midfielder it gets for Stuttgart.

Schneiderlin is more box to box, Martinez is definitely a DM.

Khedira can defend every bit as well as Schneiderlin and Martinez.

If we were serious, we could just get both.

All 3 run all over the place. It doesn't matter really. I think its clear we only have one midfielder capable in the key areas. Ramsey is the only midfielder we have who can defend run and pass. The 3 mentioned above can as well and i'd be happy to take any of them.

I would class them as box to box midfielders but whats different is that they are accustomed to sharing the defensive work more or less whereas when Ramsey is partnered by Arteta or Flamini they sit in front of the back 4. Khedira or Martinez beside Schweinsteiger for example is more balanced in the way both defend or attack. Its probably more along the lines of what our midfield would look like with one of the 3 in the side next year. Thats probably a good thing...we don't necessarily need a DM who just sits deep at all times and expects Ramsey to do all the running.

Fly him down right now, pay Real what they want.

Sign him now. Before the 2nd half.

Looked fantastic today.

As he did against France once he was moved back to familiar box to box role rather than being the furthest forward of the 3 midfielders.

great today, but was part of a well balanced midfield with 2 other cms. not sure if khedira, rambo, ozil as a midfield 3 works.

certainly wouldn't say no though. he's a real dynamo

Khedira was an absolute monster today, excellent play, driving runs from deep, showing for the CBs to make the easy pass, distributing out wide, doing it all and doing it right.

tired of reading how we're closing in on X and creeping up on Y. need to nail someone soon.

😆 We're signing everyone!

If this happens I'll have so much love for Ancelotti.

I don't think we are in for him. Or even if we are, we have not shown any interest. The way Khedira links have developed its appears a move to flush out interested parties/draw bids

Infact similar is happening with Di Maria. Though in that case it is much easier to see..

Khedira is great, but similar is style to Ramsey which isn't maybe the balance we are looking for.

Either way, I don't see Madrid selling as he is a critical component of balance in their Mid.

So is it just the express running this story or has anyone a bit more reliable backed them up?

Khedira, Flamini and Wilshere is enough depth for DM/ DLP
