Yeah. I don't want to dwell on this much longer because I don't want to totally piss on the parade of the pro-Khedira people but signing Khedira over Schneiderlin reminds me a lot of passing up the opportunity to sign Hazard in the summer of 2010 largely because we had Arshavin.

The impressive thing for me is how over run germany were in the final WITHOUT Khedira.

he doesn't seem to do much as a holding player, but is obviously a crucial lynchpin in their defensive shape and midfield game. I doubt we are in for him but he would be a great addition if we do manage to sign him.

There were a number of turns this thread could have taken, I didn't see that particular twist on the way.

I guess Wenger's due back from his WC duties this week or does he take a holiday?
Might not see any movement on transfers until he has reinstalled himself in London.

Schneiderlin is underrated, better than Khedira and is only going to get better in the future. Khedira is overrated, worse than Schneiderlin and is only going to get worse. While it is hardly proof than I'm right in this manner, if this was summer 2010 and I proposed selling Arshavin to fund a purchase of Hazard (which I wanted the club to do), then I suspect that the responses here would be similar to the responses on this issue.

Regardless of what happens, hopefully everything works out well for Arsenal. I suspect this has a good chance of ending in a big payday at Madrid for Khedira anyway.

Same type of thing. Perhaps a difference in degree.

We might end up with Schneiderlin. Pretty decent back up plan, wouldn't even be that disappointed as much as i'd like Khedira.

Either of them would be more than I ever hoped for in May, but Khedira is undoubtedly the better player.
