That's just agent talk or misdirection leak from the club. It would be kind of idiotic to demand £200k p/w when you know the clubs top earners are getting like £130k-140k p/w. Since that 200k figure has been doing the rounds for awhile actually, its more believable it was originally intended as €200k.

It always surprises me that people think the agents and clubs involved in deals for players are actually influenced in any way by the stuff that appears in newspapers or on twitter 🙂

It's funny because it's true.

He's roughly as good as fellow long-time Real Madrid starter and World Cup winner Alvaro Arbeloa.

Edit: Actually, Arbeloa won two Euro titles as well. He is clearly in the pantheon of the all-time greats, surpassing even the likes of Khedira.

Good call, makes a hell of a lot more sense that his agent would be asking for 150-160k p/week knowing that it'd be negotiated down.
