For sure, Yves. In reality, we have pretty much played the same system under Wenger; we used to call Bergkamp's role a striker and pretend it was a 4-4-2, but he pretty much played exactly in the space Özil occupies. IMO, I think a Khedira/Ramsey partnership could be every bit as good as Vieira/Petit.

He wont play a holding role if he came here. It would be 2 B2B midfielders, not a big fan of it in wengers team but could do worse, it's also about similar playing styles, would prefer someone who can play long balls from deep, good tackler and covers the full backs well, saying Khedira is awesome and can do all that & play the dm is great but it's not playing to his strengths.. Prefer to let players express themselves as much as possible

Someone in this thread compared him to a bigger, more athletic Mathieu Flamini. I think that's pretty spot on.

I reckon if his wage demands are too high for our liking we'll go get Schneiderlin instead.

Khedira would be a class addition to the team, especially since we seem hellbound on starting with Szczesny, Gibbs and Debuchy next season. A single injury to either Per or Kos and that defensive lineup will be Newcastle standard, maybe worse.

They are very good footballers, unless they are some kind of liability in defense I don't get your problem with them. How does having Khedira help our defense because I don't see it.

They're decent footballers and that's it. Same as Newcastle's current lineup basically. I expect more from a team that is supposed to challenge for honours.

Gibbs is surely a better player than Davide Santon ffs.

They are far from decent, they are very good footballers I don't where you get this impression they are only decent.

Szcesny is way above "decent" and way better than Krul. Also one of those 3 players is in Newcastles current line up but he's not as good Gibbs.

I think Krul is better, or at least comparable. Really, there isn't much between their defence and ours, and we seem happy to keep it that way (we're even signing their defenders now). That's why I think it would be nice to have another mobile class option in midfield. Stop a few more opponents early on, because without Mert or Kos that lineup will cave under pressure big time.

Anyway, sorry for dragging the thread off topic.
