Ironic that Barca bought the guy whose susceptibility to rushing upfield and leaving space they exploited successfully in 2010.

Song played really shitty against Barca too.

And they bought that other crock of rancid shit Hleb too. 😆

Wenger's been mugging them off in the market for years. Wish he'd do it more regularly on the pitch too though.

Well thats what he does best, spotting talent driving a hard bargain and shifting deadwood.
What he doesn't do so well however is winning games especially against tough opponents.

That never happened.

Remember when we called Vidic poor man's Vermaelen?

Arsenal to Barcelona transfers are the most value destroying transactions in football.
Henry: robbed us of a captain, who didn't perform well for the first 12 months as wide attacker
Fabregas: robbed us of our best player, who is now a pariah in his hometown
Hleb and Song: useful Arsenal players whose careers immediately went to shit
Vermaelen: the wrong defender completely for Barca, and takes away our 3rd option.
UEFA needs to put an end to this

Overmars - injury wrecked his career
Petit- was totally meh for them

Yes it did?

Confirmed by the clubs. Bye.

A model professional, never said a word against the club when he was benched and he has stayed quiet this summer.

Thanks for the memories Tommy V, I sincerely hope that you succeed at Barca.

Well handled by the club to sell abroad and get more money than I thought was possible.

Checked out a Barca forum, and they're not happy with this deal. 🙂

Hopefully he does well there, he has the ability to be top class, if fit, in the right side. Barcelona's emphasis on possession will suit him as well

Thanks for the memories and good luck, except if we meet in the CL.

i hope he plays like normal when we see him in the champions league.

Good luck. Was amazing in 09/10. Saw him live once that season and I've never seen such a defender who was as composed, aggressive, assertive and comfortable on the ball as the Belgian. Real shame how much he declined but this is a good move for him.

Good luck to him, now spend the money well Arsene.

They're now teammates. 😆

Were teammates at Ajax as well.

Agreed apart from the memories part of which the good are in the hazy file.

He's gonna be a star in Spain. Cheers for the memories, Verms.

If he's not injured...

That first season promised so much, alas!

Was never the same after his injury which kept him out for a year.

Harsh.

He is going to be a great signing for Barca. Best of luck, top pro never complained about anything.

Can't remember the last time a Barca side had so much changes to their team. If Cuadrado joins them they would have half a new first team.

Sincerely not meant to be. I still like the guy.
Once upon a time, the Verminator was one of our bright lights and i agree with the general sentiment of IG's post.

ill miss verminators atttude and aggression. was a boss at times for us

This tackle in his second game was insanely good:

Ran the whole length of a pitch to make that after a corner.

And Biggus scores again, assist from William Occum.
I win this thread. 8)

I can't let this slide anymore: it's OCCAM'S razor, not Occum's.

Wish him well, the guy is a top pro.

Shouldn't we have had a replacement lined up (at the point of signing) before letting him go?

Europe is not littered with quality CBs, we could end weakening an area that needed strengthening.

Good luck to him. Good pro. Captain and out of the side for a couple of seasons and never complained. All the best.

Oh you're an expert in medieval text now are you Klaus?
Spelling did not become standardised until well after the invention of printing.

I don't give a shit about medieval text. A modern standard has been adopted for this particular case. Two actually. And none of them is 'Occum'.

Bah- A pox on your modern standards.

Hopefully means that there has been some movement on a defensive signing.

Well I assume that's why Chambers was signed.
