I hesitate to bring it up, but there is a race factor too that will always work against him in Italy; much more so than in England. He even gets abused when he's with the national team.

I think so. Like Biggus said, he just needs some love. Give him a manager who believes in him and a chance to settle outside the pitch and he'll do the business on it.

Whether he'd actually want to return to England or not is another matter, but I reckon he'd prefer London to Milano right now. He's being scapegoated by the fascist who owns Milan and hounded by paparazzis everywhere he goes.

He is likely to go off the rail even more and we haven't had a great history with players who don't give a shit. Balo is undoubted a massive talent, but he has zero application to take that talent and apply it into becoming at better player. That is why, IMO, he hasn't moved on at all since he was 19 at inter.

Maybe Wenger is the guy to get him settled, or more importantly, working hard. Though I'm not sure he would take the gamble unless the price was much lower than it would be, or if it was an initial loan like with julio baptista.

i'm back and forth on balo. on the one hand he is the perfect striker for us in terms of his physical and technical ability, on the other hand i just don't trust him not to completely vanish into a moody puff of smoke during games. would probably take the plunge if he's available for sub 25m.

It's not like his problems are related to drink/ drugs, he's 'just' a bit of a nutter who's yet to settle in a team. Milan, Manchester and big city vices haven't been the issue.

We can offer a package he has never had: a regular starting spot plus good playmakers around him in a non-hostile environment.

The above will create a focus and provide him the love he has been missing. Balotelli is not a bad kid - just distracted and frustrated.

Two things are going to stay true in this conversation.

Firstly, his personality is a risk.
Secondly, Arsenal is a different environment from Inter, City or Milan. For one thing the coach isn't under much pressure to perform. :egg:

He'll be the same here as as he's been everywhere else.

If we get him for 20-25m and he scores 1 in 2 and contributes a handful against the top sides, he'll be a fine pickup even if he does ponce about a bit.

Probably not, but Milan seems to be in turmoil. I heard they are going to fire Seedorf to hire Inzaghi rather than Emery because they don't have enough money. Doesn't hurt to try to sign both.

Being a guy that lives in Italy, I see the absolute nonsense he goes through here that is nothing to do with Football.

He's like the anti Bekham. Any place outside of Italy will be a lot loss hassle for him.

The guy is a great player and with a bit of tweaking he could be better than any other star we are possibly getting ... forget Cavani, Suarez and Costa ... we are not getting those ... of the ones we COULD get ... Balo is the best. He has the potential (sorry to use that poor battered word) to be better than Costa here.
