Imagine having Balotelli in front of Ozil. The media would have a fun day at work every time we didn't score in a big game...and maybe with good reason.

Seriously though, it's not important. Every top team's attackers are slated when they don't score enough, comes with the job. I'm not saying Balotelli would definitely be the answer, but to get Loic Remy or Mandzukic instead...? Now if we turn around and sign Sanchez or Benzema or the like, great, no need for Balo.

Well if you notice the end of my post, it's not just about the media. Ozil and Balotelli is a mercurial combination, even on paper.

Eh? its not about that. I think it would greatly help not to have a troublemaker who sulk constantly in the dressing room. One of the big plus in our dressing room last season was the fact that it was united and peaceful without much dramas. Do you not remember how much City had to go through with him every match creating controversy, stupid news in his social life and training bustups? Not to mention the constant red cards.

If he is world class like Suarez and have an impeccable goal scoring record, fair enough. But his records honestly isn't worth it, just for his talent alone.

City won the title Clarence, didn't matter what the media said or how comfy the dressing room was.

Anyway, people change, he's more worth the "risk" than buying some mediocre nobody.

I wouldn't waste time evaluating the risk or thinking we're going to buy him, we're clearly not interested.

city won the league with "all they had to go through with him", our peaceful, drama-less dressing room were an embarrassment every time they went away to a big club.

He wasn't key to City winning the league and he was well involved in their downfall the following season.

In 158 league appearances he's scored 66 goals. 14 in 30 for Milan this season with one red card. That's really not a horrible strike rate. Giroud scored 16 in 36, Benzema scored 17 in 35, Higuain 17 in 32, Mandzukic 18 in 30 (quite decent really)...for the sake of it, Remy scored 14 in 26 and Morata scored 8 in 23.

Cavani, Suarez, Aguero, Ibra, Falcao, and Costa (this past season at least) are in a different league altogether, and we don't seem to be getting one of those.

Balotelli is one of the better options we have to genuinely compete with Giroud, and is one of the few that looks to have something special about him. But Wenger will look at the stats and think Remy will fulfill the same function at better value for money. He's not exactly a disciplinary dream either, got a red card this season, and has been embroiled in plenty of his own drama. Not saying anyone here wants us to sign Remy, but if our interest in him is real then not signing Balotelli is certainly much more about the money than trying to preserve unity in the dressing room or some such.

Not signing Balotelli will be about Wenger not wanting him. The price isn't going to be prohibitive so whether you agree with Wenger or not let's not pretend passing up on Balotelli is penny pinching because it isn't.

After listening to Brady slate Balo and his certainty that we wouldn't sign him I'm convinced Wenger thinks he's a liability.

So you quoted all of them and he has got the worst strike rate of all, just gambling on his "potential".

Take away all the penalties, get the minutes per goal would be more accurate if you wanna compare Morata who mostly have just a few minutes as a sub. 😉

He is also 23 and has done more on the pitch than any of the above players had at that age, Morata excluded of course.

This is of course utterly pointless anyway since we don't seem to be interested, but it makes for a strange comparison to compare a 23 year old to players in their prime. There is no denying his talent and that he has an impressive physique though, and that is always going to cost a lot.

Balotelli is a very good player. Whatever he's done so far in his career has been in spite of off field issues - which he may or may not have caused, and which may or may not continue.

If he remains injury free and at a good club he'll probably have at least three highly productive seasons before he's thirty. Probably at a Premier League club other than Arsenal, it seems.

Yarp. Wenger misses out on quite a few top players due to his prissy assessments of personality issues. Then he goes and signs layabouts and shrinking flowers. He should know by now he's anything but a faultless judge of character.

If you take penalties out Balotelli has scored about 20 goals in the last 18 months for his club
