The ball by Pogba, immense

Eh? We have known that for a long time now.

Thought it was more theory than known fact considering the number of times he's played with another striker at Arsenal can probably be counted on one hand.

Nah, he always play much better with Podolski, even though its not a 4-4-2.

😆 5-0. Djourou and Senderos as your centrebacks, asking for trouble really.

Wasn't Switzerland one of the hipster teams this year?

Tony Greaseman not playing => 5 goal rampage. Coincidence?

Senderos-Djourou partnership is as tragic as the Gerrard-Henderson one.

Almunia, Senderos, Djourou, Song, Denilson

Mouthwatering

Swiss get one back because Benzema is a coward. Pathetic from him.

I like this France team. That makes it kind of sad that when they inevitably go out, it will most likely be because Koscielny and Sagna are on the bench.

Oh my god how unlucky is that. Benzema denied a great goal.

Absolutely pathetic refereeing. Should be disbarred and publicly flogged for that.

Had Benzema not miss the penalty, had the OG become his and that goal stood he would have had 6 goals. Absolutely wonderful tournament for him thus far.

You mean it could have been a wonderful tournament for him so far. All those things didn't happen, remember?

By no means the most controversial final whistle in World Cup history, Rex Nela & Klaus will know this one from Argentina 78.
Rowan Atkinson denies Brazil.

It has still been a wonderful tournament for him. How can anyone say otherwise even if he was denied of those?

He's certainly made them pay.

Senderos was so rubbish, as ever.

I wasn't born back then...

You must know of it though Klaus, Clive Thomas supposedly told the Swedes not to worry about defending the corner as time was up and you can see that, Brazil were furious as the linesman told them to place the ball again which delayed the kick.
This changed the result of the game, not just the difference between 5-2 and 6-2.

Hehe, I was 5 at the time, but I have never seen that before. For some reason that particular moment is never mentioned when media talk about Sweden in WCs. 🙂

Yeah, I've never seen it mentioned either. Funny story though! I wonder why Brazil were even allowed to take the corner to begin with if the referee had already decided that he was going to blow off the game. Was there some kind of rule which stated that you couldn't end the game if the ball wasn't in play?

I think he blew bang on 45-
Back in the day they used to always seem to blow as a goal kick was taken this was unusual.
As was when the ref blew in the Switzerland/France game, normally they wait till the ball is nowhere important.

It used to be an incredible lottery as nobody knew when the refs were going to blow the final whistle.

It is still totally unacceptable that the referee is the only person in the world who knows when a game is over. More proof of how fucking backwards the powers that be in football are.

Giroud dropped for Griezmann - worth noting that Giroud starts alternate games this WC and seems a lot more fresher for it.
He responds well to rest.

Let's hope he's rested for every game. Schneiderlin, Pogba and Matuidi midfield coming up. Good game for Schneiderlin might generate some more interest in the transfer window.

Love the French national anthem!

top cross from Bac - Benzema should have put that in.
