In an ideal world he stays and we sign Aurier.

He stays and we won't sign Aurier.

I kept thinking whether he had half a mind about him leaving already when he had those appalling 90 minutes today but his actions after that during the celebrations proved me wrong. He really deserved such a great farewell.

Agree with Qs. Keep Sagna, sign Aurier and let him bed in for a season, send Jenkinson on a season long loan. That would actually look like a proper plan.

He should just sign. We are going places now and he would be daft to leave just when we've started a new successful era.

united being linked to him as well now

That would still annoy me so much more than City. You'd have to wonder why he'd join United now though, no Fergie, no CL, shit squad.

Sagna won't settle for a squad role here having been first choice for so long

Sagna Mertesacker & the player in the background celebrating in unison like it was preplanned.

Surely he must consider staying now after what he witnessed today?

250k fans singing 'we want you to stay'.

I still think he will be a gooner next season.

He's not leaving because of a lack of appreciation. He's leaving because he's not satisfied with our contract offer. A bit of song and dance won't change that.

Money is tied into appreciation for professional athletes. Fullbacks who don't score goals and are not captains don't get any love from the crowd, I'm sure Sagna enjoyed some of the attention he's gotten the last couple weeks. Doesn't change the fundamentals of the situation but his mindset is definitely different than it was two days ago.

I think he does want to stay deep down, but it's his last chance for a big payday, and if he feels he can get significantly more elsewhere, he should do it. If he joins Man U for only 5k/week more, I'll be upset at him, otherwise I wish him all the best. I'm sure he'll be gutted to leave.

The other players were singing that one pretty forcefully too - don't know who started it

Theo, apparently.

small surprise! Would miss him the most.

He is the perfect foil for Theo alright. When he has Cazorla, Ozil, Wilshere etc ahead of him he's a lot less use though. Thats why I'd like to have him and Aurier rotation depending on our selection and who we are playing.
