It has nothing to do with 'nice'. This man has played hard for us and put his body on the line every single time he has stepped on the pitch. During his years here he has also been remarkably consistent at a very high level, never been involved in any controversy, and never had a single bad word to say about the club. He is going to quietly go, continue to not have a bad word to say about the club too. of that I am 100 percent convinced. Hating on him is just weird IMO.

Yep. He honoured his contract. He hasn't made a peep about it running down all season. He's been a quality player here who's been 100% committed on the pitch right up until his last kick of the ball. No whinging about needing signings, no tabloid scandals, no partying. Perfect professional who will get a big cheer when he comes back to the Emirates even if its in a City shirt.

This plus the fact I wouldn't have even offered him £90k for three years. It would be nice if he stuck around for maybe two years but I think the contract he turned down was a bad contract for Arsenal anyway so I also would have been ambivalent even if he did sign.

Best RB in Arsenal history (excuse me dudes before the 70's if that's unfair with you).
Gave us everything. A model for so many things, wish we have someone like him in the future.
Is in the end of his career.
He's not moving to a hated rival.
He's not going to hurt our chances to do well (perhaps even mutually beneficial).
Team was not built around him (as somehow was a neglected aspect in the Fabregas comparison).

I love Bac. I'll always love Bac. He's fantastic. I wish him all the best - not ambivalent, not anything. Finished his job here, couldn't have done it better - how can anyone complain? can't tell anyone what to feel, but honestly - I can't understand this.

Another obvious difference is that Fabregas went to his first club in his home country, to a club that isn't competing with us every year. I honestly don't think Fabregas would ever go from us to City.

The main difference is respect. Sagna never disrespected Arsenal and gave us 100% right until his last game. Fabregas did not do that.

There's no formula for whether or not a player should be hated. If you think Sagna's a rat you're entitled to that. To me he's in the Kolo Toure camp. Glad he got to win a trophy with us.

Nasri third? For not keeping his mouth shut afterwards. I actually had no problem with the way he acted before he was sold.
Then maybe Cesc, depending on if the strike talk was true or not, but the fact is he did go to Spanish GP. Then again Cesc is about the only guy out of the whole lot who is still loved by many too.

And then there's a bunch of guys who were rather sold because a) they were not part of the plans anymore b) they indicated they would not extend and rather move elsewhere c) profit from selling them was too good to turn down d) they were past it etc etc. Clichy, Ade, Toure, Hleb, Song, Eduardo, Henry, Vieira ...

Yeah, I don't think there's a formula ... out of the guys you just mentioned, the baddies for me are Van Persie, Cole, Nasri, Ade, and Hleb. There's no way I can bracket Sagna with them. Many of the rest are guys I still genuinely like even though they may be playing for rivals.

3) Fabregas

The likes of Henry, Vieira played and won here and left abroad so they're ok. And the likes of Adebayor were forced out more than anything. Nasri/Hleb are meh.

Adebayor's a prick because of the shit he pulled when he came here with Spurs and City, even if he was forced out. Nasri's a mouthy little so and so.

Part of the reason he didn't leave during his contract is cos there was never as much interest in him as there were cesc rvp and co

what's the cut-off for years of service to avoid being called a rat? Fabregas did 6 and he's a rat in the eyes of many
