Absolutely shocked that people are slating a player who served his contract and just wants to move on.

Good luck Bacary. Great servant, absolute warrior. Good move for both parties, i think. He wanted more money and bigger chance for silverware before his career ends. We need a RB who can offer us more in build up.

what's the cut-off for years of service to avoid being called a rat? Fabregas did 6 and he's a rat in the eyes of many

Fabregas was a lot younger and was approaching his peak years, Sagna's approaching his twilight years having spent his best years here.
The difference is obvious.

I'm ambivalent. Hes never been as good as some Arsenal fans make out, but I would have rathered he stayed. And moving to City he's just another faceless mercenary.

Another obvious difference is that Fabregas went to his first club in his home country, to a club that isn't competing with us every year. I honestly don't think Fabregas would ever go from us to City.

Fabregas went to a club that was openly disrespectful to us in their 2 year quest to repatriate him.
Ultimately I think how you view this depends on whether or not you like Sagna and rate and respect what he did here.

Nope i rate Sagna as probably the best right back i've seen at Arsenal and respect what he's done for us.

Im honestly shocked.

He was out of contract. He gave us 7 years of quality service. Why is it a problem if he wants to move on. Even if it is to City? Better chance for silverware + higher wages. The fact that he was still negotiating with us shows that he would have preferred to stay, had we come close to the other offer. Understandably we cant and shouldnt match it ofcourse. So what exactly is he to blame for?

"many" but not mine. And it was actually 8 years.
