we should just bring him back, if he makes it here or not we win both ways

Though the only has a year to run so if he flops we lose him for nothing

Or maybe he'd sign a longer contract with the clause? Dunno

if we re sign him. surely its with a new contract?

Vela is at least a £20 mill player in this market. Piss poor deal for us.

We own 50% of Vela and 50% of £20m is nearly what we got. Factor in the initial fee Sociedad paid us and we got £12-13m for him. Not bad at all considering that was two years ago and he was basically wanted by no one serious.

I've seen that 50% thing reported in the last few days but I haven't seen a proper source attributed to it. Is it even possible for a Premier League club to co-own players?

We had a 50% sell-on clause. I believe that is what that's referring to.

Cheers, that makes more sense.

9m from Vela and 5 for Cesc is basically 2 years of Wenger for FREE!

I've seen it reported as us owning 50% of Vela's rights, but a sell on clause makes much more sense. Not even sure English clubs are allowed to co-own players.

Question is, would it have been moral to buy him for the £3.5m buy-out figure and immediately sell him to another club for £20m? Would Vela have even agreed to that? Probably not. Think we've got about as much as we could out of him.

Of course, if, unlike me, you wanted him here as part of the squad then you'll be disappointed.

Yes! back in it Tim Cahill.

😆 Sorry, ahem obviously I'm not just excited we may get Vela back.

😆
Keep up Biggus, we're not bringing him back.
Sociedad are going to pay us to drop our clauses (I think).

Nice one Biggs!

Is it that vela doesn't want Arsenal? So we are still without a signing?
Chelsea's deals are done for the summer. 2 top players in for £60m and one scrub out for £50m. Top summer.

huh? why would arbitrage be immoral? what about businesses who buy goods in bulk and then sell them at retail for profit?

i told you guys vela had no interest in coming here. he's a wuss who can't deal with a different culture, never learned the language, and is afraid of big, tough defenders with sharp elbows. if the rumoured breakup fee is true, we're getting shafted once again.

So to sum it up......
We want Vela but he doesn't want us.
Fabregas wants us but we don't want him.
Sagna wants to stay but we don't want to pay him more.

Oh boy......... 😆

It's a farce.
I'd like to order a Kallstrom with a side of Park, please.

I'm just so shocked

United are linked with Kallstrom as a back up cm. We'd be lucky to get him now.

This may not be based on actual events.

We should still be bringing back. He is better than Greizmann.

I think Griezmann provides more of what we need personally.
