A Giroud with pace would actually be a pretty good player...

I trust nine tenths of the Giroud haters would be slating Welbeck within a month of his arrival, but maybe I'm wrong …

Seriously though, we need someone a cut above these journeymen.

He's a nonsense starter and this is a nonsense rumour.

I'd swap Welbeck with Eeyore as the number two striker though in a heartbeat. No one, I think, has talked about Welbeck as our main striker. That would be very, very underwhelming indeed.

It would never make sense to spend the fairly large amount of money it would take to get Welbeck and then spend even more for a better striker.

If we signed Welbeck (which we almost certainly wont) it would be because we thought that given the right backing and trust he'd quickly develop in to a very good striker.

That would make us stupid.

I prefer Giroud. They'd score about the same and Girouds link play is better.

Not to mention, Giroud isn't a manc.

Welbeck's footballing ability is his main strength, I doubt he'll ever be a killer infront of goal. His passing and link-up play are easily as good as Giroud's IMO. And he'll add much more pace and dynamism to our front-line. A forward like him is far better for a playmaker like Ozil too.

I'd personally sell Giroud, bring in Welbeck as a back up striker if he's available and a top striker like Costa or Cavani.
