After witnessing Manchester United succumb to a limp 2-0 defeat at his former club Everton, David Moyes' troubles show no sign of easing after it emerged that Danny Welbeck is considering his future at Old Trafford, with the England striker dismayed at his lack of opportunities to play as a striker and unsure of his relationship with the manager.

Welbeck came on as a second-half substitute at Goodison Park as United suffered their 11th Premier League defeat of the season. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Welbeck in the close season. The player is aware of the clubs' interest and is weighing up his options as he is intent on ensuring his career does not stall .

Moyes refused to deny speculation that Welbeck is considering his options. Asked about the striker's intention to leave, the United manager said: "Danny Welbeck is really important to me and I really value him. There have been lots of stories. I can only tell you Danny Welbeck is really important to me and really important to Manchester United."

Welbeck will have two years left on his contract in the summer, the usual juncture when fresh terms would be offered. Yet the 23-year-old, who earns around £70,000 a-week, may decide against signing a new deal.

Earlier in the season Moyes claimed he had instructed Welbeck to stay behind for extra training, informing him to follow Wayne Rooney's example. He said: "I've got to say we had a word with him about a month ago and we said that he needs to be the last off the training field. Wayne's out there practising his finishing each day, whether it's taking free-kicks, shooting from tight angles or bending them in, whatever it may be Wayne's practising."

Yet Welbeck questioned Moyes' claim, saying: "I have been doing that ever since I have been at United. I have been injured this season so maybe the manager has not seen me on the training pitch as much."

Hasn't scored double digits in the league in his career. Turns 24 this year. Already on 70 grand a week and would probably want a raise on that on his new deal wherever he get's it. League record is 20 in 86.

Remy has 19 in a year playing for sh*te clubs and would be available for half the money.

50-50 on this. always thought he'd be a good striker, but he hasn't really progressed to where he should be

86 in 20? With a record like that he should demand £700k a week. 😉

20 in 86? I guess he could slot in ahead of Sanogo

Yep, 86 miskicks in 20 matches. Seriously, dude mishits the ball alot, as much as Giroud.

I think he looks ready to move up a level, watched him more carefully recently and he does look a very good prospect.

Now that Moyes has left I can't see him leaving tbh.

At 24 surely he's pretty much the finished product? Maybe he has another gear but i kinda doubt it.

This would be a really disappointing signing.

what part exactly do people see this guy playing? is he a Giroud replacement? Bendtner replacement? Giroud partner?

When they played him as a striker he got goals for them. Like Sturridge he needs to move and go somewhere where he will be first choice rather than play second fiddle to others.

Welbeck won't come here to sit on the bench and he can't start for us. I think Wenger could make a player out of him though.

Fucking hell, we're not signing Danny Welbeck.

Can he be a potential Sturridge like signing.

Don't rate him as highly as some idiots out there, and we ain't signing him too. Neither are we signing Smalling, can't see United letting any players go to us unless they are total duds.

I don't think he's anywhere near as talented as Sturridge.

He isn't. At least Sturridge had genuine ability on the ball, Welbeck is all about his physical talent.

Sturridge strikes the ball better with the laces, that's all he's got over Welbeck IMO.

I prefer Welbeck's all-round game. Think he'll do better for England at the world cup if both of them are given equal chances.

i like him a lot. ingredients are there, he just needs to play and it will click. i think he could flourish here under aw

That and movement, pace, ability to run with the ball and most importantly the hunger to score goals.

Welbeck is too flaky. He's another Defoe.
