Not how we roll. We'll sign a class striker, but to balance it we will sign a poor third CB and an underwhelming RB.
Serge Aurier

Where's the spaceman? Isn't he living in Toulouse?
Jenkinson's looking a bit Sanderson in that pic.
his eyes are too close together.
He has much better hair than Sanderson.

From Toulouse, but I live in Montreal now.
To be honest I haven't seen much of TFC for about 2 seasons now, Ligue 1 coverage drops considerably outside of France and I've been too busy otherwise - keeping up with Arsenal is enough. I've heard that he's a pretty good player though.

Wenger meets with agent of Koscielny and Aurier to talk about Kos' extension and to enquire about Aurier.
I was waiting for this connection to pop up. This makes almost too much sense. By most accounts, Aurier is the best RB in Ligue 1 at 21 years old, he can also play CB, he's athletically and stylistically similar to Sagna, he plays for a midtable team that would surely be willing to sell and he basically uses his Twitter account to beg Arsenal to sign him. There's no obvious reason to think this wouldn't be a quality signing if it came through.
Sounds good. He's on l'equipe's team of the year just like Sagna was before he came here.
Massively experienced. Over 100 league games and turned 21 a few months back.
Suppose to be a beast in attack but sometimes a bit naive defensively. From what I've read suppose to the opposite to Sagna in terms of style. Due to African Cup of Nations he will be unavailable during the Jan/Feb next year.
Not a first teamer for me. More a back up.
Fjørtoft thinks we're not interested in Jung because he isn't good enough defensively.
Fjortoft didn't need to be good defensively as he played upfront
Aurier is a top all round player. He plays right wingback and is often the most advanced player for toulouse, so his attacking stats need to be thought of with that in mind. But his defensive work isn't naive at all as some have said. He rarely gets beat, which can lead to fouls and card, but he wins the ball regularly. He is poor at holding the offside line at times, but is still 21. He could basically play in most positions on the pitch and would be perfect for us bearing in mind who much we rely on sagna to provide width and crosses.
I just don't like defenders who aren't top notch defensively.
From most accounts I read, Aurier isn't bad defensively. He just isn't at Sagna level.
But then again, fullbacks rarely are at Sagna's level defensively.
I wouldn't mind him as a central midfielder.
We already had a thread for Aurier on this very page: http://onemoreinthetolly.com/Thread-Serge-Aurier
But pleased to see this rumour pop up again, i really want him to join.

Yeah Sagna is brilliant defensively but I definitely want a better attacking full back to replace him when he goes. Obviously they shouldn't disregard defence entirely but a good balance would lift us.
In an ideal no Wenger world we'd have Sagna for games vs brilliant wingers and someone attack minded for games against poorer sides.
