By all accounts at the time Song threatened to make himself impossible at the club if we didn't let him go. There was the training incident shortly afterwards where he and Steve Bould almost got into a fist fight because he was acting up. His behaviour made us accept a lowball bid. I don't see how it's much different from Cesc personally.

Klaus wrote:Song did pretty much the same thing Fabregas did. He acted like a cunt so we would sell him as soon as Barca made their interest known. Fuck him.
It's all based on rumours, but that's not what's said to have happened at all. Song and his agent were trying to maneuvre a fat new contract out of Arsenal by touting him to Barca. On top of that Song was said to be a generally negative influence in the squad and very unprofessional. Having given him a new contract not to long ago, Arsenal were in no mood and took the oppurtunity to get rid of a negative influence.
I think it was a bit like the Ade sale. Ade had gotten his new contract and wasn't maneuvering for a move when City bid. But Arsenal saw a chance to get rid of an uprofessional player and took it. Neither song or Ade expected to be sold.
That's what the rumours were at least...

There was never a word about Song being any sort of trouble maker or negative influence until he was sold. If he was such a big problem Wenger wouldn't have given him so many chances.

This is the first I've ever heard of that.
I think the sale of Song was just a case of Wenger receiving a good offer for a player he had no long term plans for.

There was alot of reports that Song was being a troublemaker in training. Steve Bould was very unhappy with his effort and almost got into a fight with him. He threatened to not play for us and Wenger sold him straight away.
Please provide multiple sources for these allegations since there are many "reports" and "by all accounts" it happened. First time I've heard about this Steve Bould bust up.
Higuain to barca
Is that confirmed?

It seemed to be that the club made public relations leaks against Song after he was released.
All the people who'd already decided they didn't like the player absolutely lapped it up.
It always seemed unjust to me that Song got slated for following Wenger's instructions to roam forward and picking up 15+ league assists as a consequence. However, after we signed Arteta we did see the benefit of having caution at the base of our midfield.
I believe Song would still be a superb addition to our midfield if he could recover his Arsenal form. Song, Ramsey, Ozil could be a great combination.

Napoli came out on twitter and rubbished that rumour straight away.
Sounds about right. We are still in the money-collecting phase of our summer. Thursday the squad first so you have a full understanding if what you need to do, before you go out and don't do it.
Leverkusen director says they've agreed terms for Calhanoglu and should be announced soon for 12.5m euro. Another great signing after they bagged Drmic for 7m euro. With Lars Bender, Leno, Son-Heung, Kiessling and these two it's not a bad squad. Could challenge dortmund for No.2 easily.
Rumours that Liverpool have bidded 27m for Alexis.
Sigh.
lol. what will be left for us by summer's end?
They won't get Sanchez. Not a hope.
Of course there is a hope if they have the dosh
Why would he go to Liverpool?
Must I really answer that?
Just don't see the appeal. They're not in the same class as some of the other clubs that'll be in for him and they won't be able to give him the sort of money he'd want to look beyond that.
If we want him we'd get him ahead of Liverpool. Easily
Yeah I hear ya but we like to little bit dither
If Alexis is available we really, really should go all out to get him. Would get Barcelona a chance not to owe us money for a change too.
Rakitic to Barcelona confirmed.
Pantilimon to Sunderland. Only thing I can see is Vito must be leaving for a better club because he was voted their player of the season and so it would be odd that he'd get dropped and on the other hand it would be odd that Pantilimon swaps the city bench for the Sunderland bench.

you seem too certain of this. they have a bigger international pedigree than us. they have Suarez. they finished ahead of us. and their highest paid player makes more than our own highest paid player.
finally, if you look at the top 10 transfer fees paid for a player between the two clubs, Liverpool probably has about 7 of those, suggesting they'd be more likely to actually get a meeting with the player
(According to Di Marzio) - Chelsea have got Filipe Luis.
Good signing
Honestly they're going to walk the league now. Wouldn't surprise me if they won the CL either.
City are still better. Much better squad.
Wrapping their signings up with frightening ease! Suppose their targets have been more easier to obtain for them but still they've highlighted what they need and gone out and got the job done. Isn't he nearly 29 though? £20m is a bit much for a 29 year old LB
Need to make sure we get our business done as well, can't worry about other teams because you can't stop them from buying who they want.

That's what clubs with ambition to compete at the highest level do - pay big bucks for world class players at the top of their game and not worry about things like age and resale value.
We should be doing the same.
At the end of a 4 year deal he'll be 32 so it's not bad

That's what clubs with a fuck load of money do - pay big bucks for world class players at the top of their game and not worry about things like age and resale value.
We should be doing the same.
Fixed it for you.
