Liverpool have a good base. They are closing out deals for squad players that will give them depth with CL football this year. Impressed with signings or not, the urgency is there. I am sure we aren't idle but really we will close nothing soon enough for our signings to be there when pre season begins.

They've got two decent deals in early, but it's easy to sign squad players no other decent team wants. In the positions where they need to sign starting quality players, Champions League quality players - namely, in their back four, which is piss poor - they haven't signed anyone.

Lambert is a decent signing. I've only seen Can in glimpses here and there. Seems like good player, but I've heard Leverkusen fans complain about his work rate.

they should be fine. Lampard is also leaving, and he was on some 170k a week. Cesc would be sitting on a big increment if he made Lampard's old salary

Senderos has joined Villa on a free transfer.

Barcelona if rumors are to be believed have signed Ivan Rakitic from Sevilla.

The transfer fee is supposed to be around 20 million euros.

If the rumors are true, then it could well mean that Fabregas is on his way out as I don't see Barcelona selling any of their other central midfielders.

My guess is that they are signing Rakitic because Xavi is on his way down. I don't think it's connected to Fabregas.

I can't imagine how this place would react if we were out there signing players like Ricky Lambert. It's losing it's shit already, but signing nuffies would push it over the edge.

Rodgers has the right idea. Show me the manager who has a 100% hit rate. He doesn't exist. The closest would be Madrid managers because they buy very few players at 30 - 80m pounds a pop. But you can't succeed without buying. I'm sure Liverpool fans are happy to stomach some of their dregs as they enjoy Sturridge's exploits
