I too have come to not want him very much. Not because he isn't a top talent, but because I less and less think he is what we need.

Indeed, I was quite swept up with the excitement of signing him but we need to sign players who function in our system and strengthen us rather than signing great players and then have them play out of position.

maybe the reason wenger didn't sign anyone in jan was that he knew he was gone and wanted to leave the slate relatively clean for the next guy.

i would kill for a ljungberg-type right now, someone with pace who loves to get in behind, can supply a variety of cold-blooded finishes (placement, curlers, lobs), and with good overall play due to having formerly played CM. that describes pires as well, but i'm not being greedy.

Theo gives us a lot of that, not the midfield attribute but he's arguably better than Ljungberg in terms of getting in behind and finishing. Theo spends half of every season injured though.

Maybe a new manager with new methods could solve some of our injury problems.

Matthäus is in the papers again claiming this will happen. I couldn't find the actual interview they're referring to on Bild's website, but it might be from today's paper.

Haven't been excited about a striker Arsenal signed since Eduardo. Matthaus better be right.

He was right about both Lewandowski and Ramos (as he's modestly pointed out on more than one occasion, much to the chagrin of German journalists). I think he's right about this one too. There's so much about Drmic that just makes sense. It suggests that at least one of Giroud and Sanogo are out the door this summer though.

He's only got 1 goal less this season than Mandzukic and Lewandowski, two recognized world class strikers for top European teams (though it's worth noting that 4 of Lewandowski's goals were penalties, so Drmic has actually scored more from open play than him).

This despite the fact that goals are a lot harder to come by for Drmic at Nurnberg than they are if you play for Bayern or Dortmund. This is clear in the way that Lewandoswki and Madzukic both take a lot more bites at the cherry before they get the ball in the back of the net than Drmic. In terms of attempts on goal:

Lewandowski: 96
Mandzukic: 70
Drmic: 55
In terms of conversion rate, Drmic has been THE most clinical striker in the Bundesliga all season. If that's not proven ability, I don't know what is!

This argument is slightly flawed though. It's not like Nurnberg have any other strikers who are stealing the limelight. It's a bit similar to Aston Villa and Benteke last season - impressive numbers for a striker, but the whole team is set up to play every ball through one guy up front. Bayern and Dortmund are much better teams and can attack with a greater variety. They get goals from a number of outlets.

Sanogo out on loan with Drmic and Giroud as back up to Costa would be amazing though.

Or it'll be a straight swap for Podolski, who I reckon is a lot more likely to move than either of our French strikers.

I like Drmic simply because he can also play on the right flank. It should mean that he won't get completely frozen out as a backup, since Wenger never rotates his strikers, and should be match fit if we ever actually need him to come in for our first choice striker.

Yep, reckon Podolski's days are numbered.

ST: Costa - Giroud (?) - Drmic - Sanogo
RW: Walcott - Drmic
LW: Chambo - Cazorla

Gnabry and Rosicky as extra cover for both flanks. I'd fucking love to sign a left winger as well though.
