And what would be wrong with that? You can't have every player in your squad being world class. Are Schurrle or Salah world class? No they're not but they work well in their system and give them options

As a first choice player I'd say no but as a member of the squad at £10m is a no brainer.

I'd take him over podolski, but the reality is if we signed him wenger would claim it was him done for CFs.

We need a game changing CF, Remy, and Giroud as CF to even talk about being a top team.

We went for Suarez, we all know that so why on earth would you suggest the plan was to go with giroud behind ozil.
What we didn't do was buy another stop gap rightly or wrongly. Giroud is the stop gap and another stop gap wouldn't have fixed a whole lot. We went for top quality and after that failed we went for cheap stop gaps like Ba and vucinic. For whatever reason law fucked that deal up, or Wenger if you think he's omnipresent.

What we don't want is to do a spurs and spunk every penny we have on expensive stop gaps that will make Feck all difference to the level of the squad.

We should have signed an expensive striker, we couldn't have known Suarez buy out clause had holes in it.
They we should have signed a cheap quality back up we identified a few but somehow couldn't even get Kalou to agree a deal.

Were doing the right things but the deals are falling through last minute which is exactly why any manager not just Wenger needs someone like Dein to get deals done.

We went for suarez?

In Aug yes, when liverpool couldn't find a decent player to replace him, so that's a fail.

Someone like Remy, even as a stop gap, would score more and be more of threat than giroud when we have someone like ozil who is able to pick out channel runners.

You talk a lot of stop gaps, most of out signings are stop gaps. I'd rather sign a lesser player that fits the general ethos of how you want a team to play than a better player who simply won't work.

We aren't going to find ozil esque signings on a plate and will have to at least build a functional team. This squad is totally disjointed as it stands, no real emphasis on a style of play, just a thrown together group who go out with no message.

Remy ahead of Ozil could be pretty lethal imo.

Hate all this talk of 'levels' and 'tiers' when it comes to players, sport isn't as absolute as that. Ozil is a genius, priority should be to get in a striker that compliments him.

And what about when Ozils injured or off form? We need someone capable of playing with Ozil and capable of doing things on their own or at least with our less talented midfielders. Can they be brilliant with Rosicky behind them?

I think the fact that Remy has a good record at both QPR and Newcastle speaks to his advantage in that regard. Most of our squaddies would start regularly for those clubs.

Remy should be the first signing of the summer. Stabilise shit. Then we can think about the Costa/Draxler/Podolski questions wit a bit of comfort

Mandzukic is miles better than Giroud in pretty much any category you choose to focus on. He'd bang them in for us at a good rate if we had direct wide players to complement him. Mandzukic along with a Griezmann would be a good combo.

I feel extremely torn about us signing Remy after that rape charge. That didn't sit right at all. He'd suit us as a player no doubt, but I am quite sure I'd never like him. I know a lot of you don't have a problem with that, but I do. Football is all emotion for me, and I want to at least not actively dislike our players! That is one of the things I appreciate with our current squad; I like pretty much all of them. I just pretend that Bendtner isn't really part of the group...

what was up with the rape charge? does it look to you like the woman has been cheated?

It looks to me as if the woman was raped.

First signing needs to be a solid statement signing. Ozil level: "Gbam! Take!"

We should focus our 100% attention on that. Top class striker.

We can sound out the Loic Remy's and make them aware of our interest in them, but make no further attempts till we've sealed the deal for our number 9. They'll wait.

disagree. we need to create momentum. Remy is also cheap and highly qualified.
the so-called top strikers are in very short supply this summer. we are unlikely to get one. let's secure a good name and then run around after the Costas of the world.

Gotta say, I agree with Rex. The whole thing stinks when you read up on it.

You guys got any links on what you've read? Had a look around but couldn't really find anything to suggest he got let off. He has come out recently and put down some women for being greedy and targeting football players.

You don't know he would claim that! I wouldn't sign Remy just for being a CF though, I think he can play across the front three so would give us options. Good movement, very quick and a goal scorer

How often you seen him play wide? Whenever I've seen him play on the right he's look massively ineffectual. Looks like a striker playing out of position.

He's done okay for France out on the right on occasion. He's very much a goal scorer though and I'd think he'd get goals from out wide for us without really being too involved in the build up. A bit like Podolski but probably fitter than the smiling German.

A few times for the Toon this season when they had Cisse playing as striker. He didn't look as good as being a striker but our wide players play more like wide strikers than proper wingers. He'd get plenty of passes slipped in between CB + LB/RB whereas for the Toon he was always having to stay out wide.

Another problem for us is without Theo we have no pace in this side so very important we get at least one genuinely quick player in. All that has happened since Theo has got injured is teams have held a higher line making things for difficult for our strikers and midfield.

Remy - Balotelli - Walcott

We'll never be wanting for goals again. Ozil will shit himself in disbelief.

Blaming referees, completely ineffective when it matters like against Atletico, spearheading the worst milan team in decades, scoring less goals than Giroud etc.

Sign him up for 40m.
