From what I'm reading looks a top prospect and exactly the type of signing we should be looking to make, Per & Kos are both near 30 so while they have a few years in them they might want to move on and not finish here and we need someone who can be eased in now and allowed to settle in rather than thrown in the deep end.

If Vermaelen is moving, I'm fine with a Ginter + Djourou haul this summer. Would be a fairly decent centre back situation, assuming our top two don't both spend time out. Ideally, we keep Vermaelen and get Ginter, but given how pressing needs are in attack, I'd like to save a little bit of money for strikers and the like

I'm working with the assumption that Vermaelen is leaving, he's far too good to sit on the bench here and deserves better imo. We should be able to get around £10m-£15m for him in the summer.

I doubt Djourou is coming back, IIRC his contract is up in the summer.

That sucks. So we need to bring in two people? Ginter is a start. Surely, we can pick up some guy on 30k from the bottom half of the league table.

Tall, young, German. Heard good things about him hopefully he can be ready to start for us when Mertesacker gets too old. Hope there is something in this.

Yeah we might need to, if we can get Ginter in then the other CB doesn't need to be that good, even someone half decent will suffice.

Not sure but he's been linked to them in the past aswell as us and united. Seems he had a lot of options but reports said he stayed last summer to keep playing first team football.

Knowing Wenger, If Verms leaves he'll be replaced by someone like Ginter as 3rd choice and Ajayi as 4th choice (the "internal solution").

Bring him in, he can play in midfield too from what I have read.

Force Vermaelen to see out his contract. Hate to say it, but I don't think we will be lucky with injuries to our main CBs next season. Last thing we need is throwing a CB who is adjusting to the league into the deep end.

Seriously? Djourou has been one of the worst CBs in Bundesliga this season

I really like this rumour even though admittedly I've never seen Ginter play. He is the sort of profile we need in defense IMO, a young solid player who can be relied upon immediately with potential to become our starter in couple of years. That mirror video shows nothing apart from being technically solid for a CB, but he seems to be highly rated and we've been linked with him since last summer. Getting him and Vermaelen would be ideal, but if Verms is to leave get a Winston Reid like backup and that's our CB situation sorted.

Watched him a few times last season. He was pretty impressive for being so young. Not sure how he's been doing since then.

I'd put every last cent into finding the next Koscielny personally, and I know that Ginter isn't that player.

Next Koscielny is probably Benatia, though there's not much difference in terms of age and quality between the 2 now. Varane perhaps?
